I thought I was cynical enough, but I'm apparently a Pollyanna compared to your depths of bitter suspicion
Seriously? I would pretty much ASSUME that this MUST be a ploy to resell opened returns.
An unopened return goes right back on store shelves. No one cries foul. An opened product is no less 'new' and will still get sold, as new, to someone, somewhere. Helpful hint: 'open box' items are displays/demos and whatnot. Not just stuff someone broke the seal on. Similar to how refurbs are clearly used items, and not the brand new returns that some deluded optimists seem to think they are receiving.
More importantly than any of this, however, is one simple question: What kind of useless dick-fingered invalid has to request that a company open his item for him?
Blister packs are not impenetrable fortresses. FFS, it's called a knife and/or scissors.
Maybe you can also select an option where Jerry Seinfeld will call you up and pander to you while you open the package. 'What is the DEAL with this thing? Who could open this? I know I can't stab plastic with a knife, either! Don't feel bad, it would clearly take a GENIUS to open this item! And I'm just a dumbass like you!'
