amazon has Pioneer DV-333 DVD Player for $189 maybe a hot deal ?

saw this on ableshoppers.com, pretty new here but this seems like a good deal to me recent price drop , i still have the 150 amazon gift card from that mci deal , anyone have any info about this drive? they also have Toshiba SD-1600 DVD-Video Player by Toshiba $199.94

Philips DVD710AT DVD-Video Player by Philips $179.99

RCA RC5215 DVD Player by RCA $199.99
any of these any good?

I think this is the model that plays pretty much any kind of VCD, if it is then it's a really good deal. My Samsung DVD player says it plays VCDs but I haven't been successful at playing anything but DVDs on it.

my dv-525 plays all the vcds i've thrown at it...this model is a next gen version so i'm sure it will too. pioneer is good for burned vcds (any brand cdr)

I have the 333 and it plays anything including VCD's and SVCD's with bitrates up to 2500 kbps on my machine. Hope this helps.

Well Pioneer says it plays VCD's and then they say the next higher model plays Video CD's, aren't they the same thing?? Anyways, here's a link to their site:

I bought this for my parents as a X-Mas gift. It plays ANYTHING you throw it at. CD-R's, CDRW's, VCD's etc.

i got this a while a back from 800.com with the passport deal for about $145 shipped Works great no problems yet with any of my dvds or vcds. read all my cdrs/cdrws from many differnt brands including the no name ones. At 189 is kinda expensive but a good dvd player never the less.

$189 isn't a bad price, considering that they're sometimes hard to find. If you're not lucky enough to have a GC, go to Best Buy where they're $179 - not sure if the price is good all week for Sunday & Monday only. I just picked one up.

It's a great player compatibility-wise. I believe it's the highest rated player for compatibility with all discs. I've tried my 13-disc suite of test SVCDs, VCDs, and XVCDs in it and they all work - even some that WinDVD won't play. Only (minor) thing about it is the DVD drive is a bit louder than average if you're close to the unit.

However, Pioneer has announced the DVD-343, but I haven't been able to find the differences between the 333 and 343. Looks like the same feature set, and almost identical front panels. Maybe the 343's got a quieter drive.

They all play cdr, and vcd correctly.

I got a new Pioneer (dc 503) DVD player around Christmas. The thing is great. It plays EVERYTHING. Great picture, sound, and price. I recommend it.

If you are on drugs, let me spell it out. No Sony, Pioneer, Toshiba, etc (big name) dvd player is going to be region free stock. You can have it modded.

There are a handful of small name players that can be "reprogrammed" by simple remote commands to be region free/dss free.

Now, watch...after I say this, sony is gonna make a mistake and leave in a backdoor to disable region free on their latest dvd player
