Anyone ever get one of these mattresses? A search on Amazon brings up Lucid brand or Sleep brand memory foam mattresses... but I haven't heard of these before. The price is right for me but are there any reviews? Lucid promises a long warranty period but how good are they at honoring it?

Get one from Walmart. I can personally endorse their King and Queen size memory foams.

I sleep like a baby.

I remember it took about a week for the plastic smell to go away after the foam mattress expanded.

I got one from Dynasty Mattress off Amazon, and it's great so far. I got it because they specifically advertised it as being more of a firm memory foam mattress (same density as a lot of Tempurpedics based on what I read). I went with that for two reasons. The first is that I needed better support. The second is that I've heard a lot of reports of memory foam mattresses losing shape over time, and apparently the higher density foam helps reduce that (good reports from this brand, anyway).

My friend got one from Wal-Mart, and it's served him well. I remember it being on the firmer side when it was new. No idea how much it has softened up or how well it is still holding up after about a year (seems fine from what I can tell).

Memory foam has been around for quite some time now.

Is it a gimmick? I don't think it's medically or scientifically better, just different.

I sleep AMAZINGLY on our nice firm spring bed we got at Sleepy's. I think it's Serta. I don't see how memory foam could improve it just because it's 'memory-y'.

Kinda curious.

I purchased 10 inch Lucid Queen and a full sized mattresses last year along with metal platform frames, both beds are holding up well so far. I find the Queen to be a bit too firm at times but the husband loves it. Do be sure to rotate the mattress every 3 -4 months.

I bought 2 of them off Ebay...just waiting to pick them up now. Getting rid of the pillow top since it sags, will never buy a pillow top again.

I've heard that memory foam mattresses and toppers trap a lot of heat. It's the only thing that has stopped me from trying them. Has no one else experienced that?

Yes they do retain heat but if you live in a colder climate or are always cold (WOMEN!), it's not that bad.

Another possible downside is you can't (or shouldn't) use a heated electric mattress pad.

just buy a memory foam topper from walmart. i bought a 3" one for 150 bucks. cheaper than a new mattress. the 3 is a bit too thick, i should have bought the 2" one.

Got 1 from Costco. Wasn't particularly memory-foam-like. I didn't get a good sink-in like I did with the premium topper from target. (got that for my in-laws, but have slept in that bed while house-sitting)

Ended up getting the tempurpedic topper. Transformative experience.

Been sleeping on a Serta Raised Air Bed with Never Flat Pump for 2-years now.
http://www.amazon.com/Serta-Raised-Q...dp/B006OU4IQC/

Mattresses with coils and box spring tend to real uncomfortable over time, one part of the bed caves in. Have tried every bed type out there and this is still the most comfortable sleep i ever had.

If you want the air bed to be off the floor, add the Sensations Steel Smart Base Bed Frame.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spa-Sensat...Sizes/15739163

Granted an air bed is not for everyone, for me, I will never buy a regular bed again.

would you mind linking to the one you got?

I want a memory foam but I need firm. A quick search shows too many results for me to go through

I bought a bed from Sam's Club, king size 12" gel/memory foam. It's branded by Serta, but the documentation states it's a Sleep Innovations bed, which is one of the main brands on Amazon. I've had it a month. Happy with it so far.

that is an interesting idea. is the "whisper quiet" pump really that quiet?

Yeah, I dunno if that is as effective as I would need it to be. In a regular bed I often wake up soaked with sweat. I couldn't stand anything even a little bit hotter than that.

do you sleep with a fan on?

I have a fan pointed at my head at all times. Without it I overheat. With it, I'm comfy.

I still can't have my toes covered up for whatever reason. Does that make me crazy?

2 fans. Ceiling fan and bedside fan. Occasionally I'll overheat anyway and throwing a leg out from under the covers seems to help, so no I doubt you're crazy.

Is the full firm as well? I'm only getting a full sized and I prefer firm beds.

Does anyone own a dreamfoam mattress?

Plenty of info on Dreamfoam mattresses at the Mattress Underground forum. Search for dreamfoam. http://www.themattressunderground.com/mattress-forum.html

This is the place to go for info on mattresses, and you can get a 5% discount from retailers on their membership list. http://www.themattressunderground.com/the-mattress-underground-membership.html

I have a pureLatexBliss 100% latex foam mattress. It was expensive, but super comfortable, sleeps cool, no toxic chemical outgassing like polyurethane foam, and will last at least my lifetime.
