I keep hearing March '01 as the next availability date. What happened to the 1 mil+ units that Sony was supposed to step up in the next few months?

I find it extremely amusing that anybody would buy a PS2 for that price.. $500? Hello, take the crack pipe out from between your lips and realize that it's a GAMING device.. Sheesh.. Wait until it's $200 or something.

I agree with Valkore, all this hype over a game console, people spending over $500 on PS2!!!! That's is freakin insane and a complete waste of money! I mean, look at dreamcast, how long was that out before it got down to 99 bucks, even tho ps2 has dvd, so what dvd players are less than 100 nowadays.

This discussion remids me of this Penny Arcade strip.

Yeah, Sony was supposed to ship a million but they then toned down the estimate to 500,000 or so, getting up to a mil by the end of the year. They attribute the problem to a shortage of components they need, but that's all I know.
