Amazon Prime $68/yr Friday Sept 23 NOT HAPPENING

I'm not sure if the hassle is worth saving $31 or whatever the difference is. I just wish their Amazon original content was better.

I'm not seeing it. When I go to my account and click Prime and then investigate the various options a one year subscription is shown as $99. I have never signed up for Prime, but did have a 30 day trial almost 2 years ago. Why don't I see the $67 option for Prime when I hit Amazon?

Edit: The SD thread has alot of posts saying it's not happening.

You have to admit, prime is going downhill overall.

They tossed in the "Prime Pantry"... with the whole "Fill up a prime pantry box and only pay $6 for shipping! (even with a prime membership)"... What the fuck? How stupid are you?

Then they put "add on items" to make sure you order other shit.

I predict as we go along prime will get worse and worse as they continue to offer less and less that you can order on the fly with 2-day shipping.

That's how monopolies work. Amazon has been losing money for years to get monopoly market share, and can be expected to screw customers when it has no competition.

I must be one of the few who use their audio and video streaming quite a bit. I've actually saved a lot of money on albums I would have otherwise bought by just listening to them on Prime. The free shipping is just a bonus.

Overall worth $8/month.

I don't use their audio or video at all. I order quite a bit from Amazon -- from toothbrushes to furniture and everything in between. Their prices are usually the cheapest and/or at lest the same as everywhere else and I love the Prime shipping (never, ever had an issue).

When I saw this post yesterday, I checked to see when my prime was going to expire. Amazon was about to renew me on the 25th. If nothing else, this thread allowed me cancel my prime membership before it was renewed at $99. I will probably sign up for prime again in the future, but this way I can delay it as long as possible to maybe get a chance at prime hot deal.

If amazon sent me an email to remind me that my prime was about to renew, then I didn't see it.

It's funny, I'm punishing Amazon for various things, and basically buying things I want I think they lose money on, but they are making that possible.

Today I got a 19.2 ounce Reese's bag for $5, which would be a good sale price for the local market, but they shipped it overnight in a foam-padded package with cold ice things. They lost money.

And the next time you want to order that Reese's bag for that same price, you'll find out that it's now an Add-on item requiring you to buy something else with it.
I'm sure Jeff Bezos is laughing all the way to the bank.

I just got "stealth renewed" also. My biggest issue is how Amazon is able to flag the credit card transaction as "card swiped," or how my credit card company allows it? I get alerts every time my card is used without being swiped, but this one flew under the radar.

This is reminiscent of SiriusXM years ago, who were also able to change my AMEX as "card present". I like Prime, but it's a pretty sad state of affairs when SiriusXM is 10 times more up-front about auto-renewal (they even send postcards now!) than Amazon.
