The first Prime day fell prey to overhype. With being such a let down last year that's a lot less likely to happen this time.

I still ended up with an instapot IP-DUO60 for $99 on prime day though so I was happy.

Uhhh wut? Yeah, it was overhyped no doubt, they put up TV commercials and all kinds of shit.

But why would they change from that? It was a complete success... people were suckers and tons signed up for Prime just to SEE it, and tons of crap got sold. I fully admit the day was retarded - I bought a whopping total of 0 items and I was begging to spend some.

Like others said I'll probably just ignore it - Lesson learned from last year.

You literally answered your own question.

No, not really.... I didn't buy anything last year, hence I wasn't a targeted customer. That doesn't mean their overall target wasn't a success though. It was overall a success for the stupid and mentally retarded crowd - so why not continue with that?

If you can't see how you answered your own question, you might want to consider yourself among the "stupid and mentally retarded crowd".

Nope, but with your latest reply I feel safe lumping you in that group.

I stated that Prime Day was a complete success its first year. That's a fact.

I also stated that (much like last year) I would not be partaking in ordering anything because there was nothing that generated any interest for me. 0 revenue last year. 0 revenue this year.

They will do the same thing as last year of taking out their garbage to fools. Or is a 93% Increase in sales not enough for you?

Well, since you've made it abundantly clear that you can't comprehend, let me lay it out for you.

1) Amazon massively hyped Prime day last year.

2) Prime day sucked.

3) Amazon took a lot of criticism for Prime day sucking.

4) In your own words, "Lesson learned from last year."

So, if Amazon wants Prime day to mean something, they need to make it worth it, because hype won't keep working if they continue disappointing people.

I hope they have a sale on a giant barrel of sex lube, like they did last year.

Amazon bought Woot.com back in like 2010; I think they figured they'd just unload their junk off their main website the same way five years later. Hopefully they've learned their lesson & will revamp it to make it more like Black Friday. If they're smart, they'll have better deals than BF (ignoring the last few crappy BF's), because then Prime Day will become a national thing & get even more people to sign up for the service, like how Valentine's Day became a huge candy & flowers day.

Last year i was pretty excited about prime day but there was literally no good deal. It seemed like alot of miscellaneous junk and or a discount on older models of their amazing kindles, fires, etc. Hopefully they learned from last year and this year will be a better.

Amazon Slime day.

Just a bunch of hype.
Seriously, I remember last year lots of folks bitching about how either a) many of the deals evaporated as soon as they were posted and b) most of the deals not being all that great.

Last year was laughably bad but I guess it worked out in Amazon's favor. Sell all the crud that doesn't sell.

I thought last year's was pretty underwhelming but I'll still check out this year's. I don't intend on buying anything, though.

They have every incentive to make this one better. If not, they know nobody will care ever again.

The first prime day was so terrible that they'll never be able to reach the same level of hype again. People like yourself remember how bad it was, so no matter how much they try to advertise Prime Day 2016, it'll never reach the hype that Prime Day 2015 had... because now we know better. Hype is not just how much they advertise, but how much the public BELIEVES something will be good. Since the public has already been fooled once, the hype will never be as high as it was for the first prime day.

Does that make more sense?

I think amazon is smart enough to put stuff on a sort of sliding scale. So if the traffic is low, there will be some great deals so people tell their friends that they're missing out. And if they get a strong response, it will probably be the tepid deals they were giving last year.

I think we should use the Prime day to fill out shopping baskets with $$$ and then just not check out.

A mere ~12 hours until we see the first 'deals'. I'm really hoping they redeem themselves.

50/50 - they own Woot & basically copied that for their last sale, so everything was cheap junk. If they're smart, they'll really market it this year by having some crazy-good deals so that people associate spending money online with Prime Day moreso than Black Friday.

I'm hoping they don't forget to put the kitchen stuff on sale :awe:
