The only thing I saw I wanted was that bluetooth speaker, but they're all gone.
I guess I can just pay the extra $6 for full price... Or not buy at all since I will never use it.

i thought i remember reading (maybe on this forum even) that you can cook like 4lbs of chicken breasts in like 25 minutes, from frozen. is that true?

i make chicken salad all the time for lunch at work but i cook it for 4.5 hours in salsa and it kinda sucks having to do all of the work of ripping it apart right before i'm going to bed. it would be awesome to come home from work and pop chicken in there for 25 minutes then just finishing it up in the next 10 minutes.

Buy one. You will NOT regret it. This is stupid-cheap. I'm on the fence about getting a second one even ... the problem is in order to cash in on the $30 off $150 Amazon Visa deal, I still need to add $80 to my cart but don't see anything else appealing at the moment. :'(

Also, what you describe is something like this... ?

yeah this is the slow cooker i use.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P2NG0K

looks like that is 6 quarts too and i can fit like 4lbs of chicken breasts in there no problem with salsa.

can you get that much into the pressure cooker of the same size and cook it quickly? like do you have to have a certain amount of empty space in there or anything? that link you posted said 15 minutes for normal chicken breasts or 30 minutes for a large one, but that's just one. i also realize it's from frozen which probably won't be the case for me most of the time.

Now you're on the NSA watch list. Nice work.

I know you need the convenience but this makes the chef in me sad If you're going to do that, it might be cheaper to get the canned chicken breast from Costco. It's $10 for 6 large cans, and it's actually decent quality chicken for shredding.

I have one, and they do cook things quickly but the cooking times are often a bit misleading. Usually the time it takes for the pot to get to cooking pressure is omitted. Depending on how much food and liquid you have in the pot it can take quite some time for it to get up to working pressure. If you are cooking something that needs a natural pressure release then you also need to add 10 minutes to the end as well.

I still like and use mine a lot, but keep in mind most recipes will take longer than advertised.

I just snagged game of thrones seasons 1-5 for 59.99 and Mad Max Fury road for like 7 bucks.

They are digital only, but I love my prime stick, and can't be bothered to store hard copies any longer.

Man, a Samsung curved 55" 4K HDTV for $650 is a pretty dang good deal, IMO.

upgrade mom's laptop to PNY 120gb SSD for $35, sure.

I'd like to pick up a decent laptop, one that's powerful enough to do some .NET and Android development on. They had a Lenovo one for $250 (I don't wanna go over $300) but it was only 11.6." I'd rather trade some power for screen real estate.

I don't want to turn this into the "Instant Pot" thread, but is this thing really that good? My wife and I constantly have the issue of "oh shit its 7pm and we didn't get anything for dinner" followed by "what do you want?", "I don't know what to do you want?" followed by our daughter not wanting any of it. Really hoping to find some easier ways to make things.

Damn you all to hell. I don't need another kitchen gadget but I went ahead and got the instapot. I figure I can get rid of my rice cooker and put the instapot there.

Oh, I was hoping they'd let me get Prime for 50 bucks or something. I'm still juggling my Amazon purchases (Save for Later and www.filleritem.com) to get Free Shipping (i.e. $49 minimum). May jump in some day, who knows, I'm just not sure it's worth it. The free video streaming is a reason to jump for it, but I don't know just how useful that would be to me. I've never subscribed to any video service of any kind.

No, you do need another kitchen gadget, you just don't know what it is right now. I have a plan to market one that will make me a fortune.

PS .... I have never owned a rice cooker and have no idea what an instapot is. When I lived in the dorm my only kitchen gadget was a doohickie you plugged into the wall socket and dropped into a cup of water.

For $70, absolutely. It's the same thing as a slow cooker, it just works faster by raising the boiling point so you can cut the cooking time in half. At the very least, you can use it as a budget rice cooker...it cooks rice just as good as my $100+ fuzzy-logic Japanese rice cooker. Here is a good introduction:

Rice, shredded meat, veggies, cheesecake, you name it. I use mine all the time

Are they still doing this "deals expiring every hour" crap that they did last year? If so, I think I'm browsing the wrong stuff since everything says it ends in 16 hours.

It's a pretty nifty gadget, but you still have to plan your meals unless you have a well stocked fridge / pantry. I guess I use mine in place of the slow cooker more than anything else. Rather than needing 8 hours to cook something I can pretty much make the same recipe in a fraction of the time. Pot roast for example takes about 1.5 hours or so in the pressure cooker (including browning, adding stuff at different times, etc.) where it took 8 hours in the slow cooker. It isn't magic however. It still takes some planning if you want a one pot meal with rice or pasta for example. It isn't always as easy as "throw everything in the pot, hit go, have meal 10 minutes later".

Prime was ~$70 at one point in Sept. coinciding with some award/event. The way I look at it, I did the BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards credit card (put only $8 Netflix on it) and get $100 back a year just for paying on time every month, so essentially it makes Prime (or Netflix) free.
