It's a pretty nifty gadget, but you still have to plan your meals unless you have a well stocked fridge / pantry. I guess I use mine in place of the slow cooker more than anything else. Rather than needing 8 hours to cook something I can pretty much make the same recipe in a fraction of the time. Pot roast for example takes about 1.5 hours or so in the pressure cooker (including browning, adding stuff at different times, etc.) where it took 8 hours in the slow cooker. It isn't magic however. It still takes some planning if you want a one pot meal with rice or pasta for example. It isn't always as easy as "throw everything in the pot, hit go, have meal 10 minutes later".

Yeah...and the advertising isn't quite accurate. There's a "preheat" time (to pressurize the pot), then the actual cook time, and then optionally a natural pressure release time (you can do a quick-release, but a lot of meat dishes stay tender if you let it come down naturally over 20 minutes or so). Like when all is said & done, my kalua pig recipe takes a good two hours, but it takes 16 hours in the crockpot, so it's still an enormous time savings.

yeah this is the slow cooker i use.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004P2NG0K

looks like that is 6 quarts too and i can fit like 4lbs of chicken breasts in there no problem with salsa.

can you get that much into the pressure cooker of the same size and cook it quickly? like do you have to have a certain amount of empty space in there or anything? that link you posted said 15 minutes for normal chicken breasts or 30 minutes for a large one, but that's just one. i also realize it's from frozen which probably won't be the case for me most of the time.

I do both fresh & frozen in my Instant Pot, both work fine. They sell the IP in 6-quart & 8-quart sizes. It has a slow-cook function available (you can buy an optional glass lid for it if you want to use it that way). Has a keep-warm function like a crockpot too, so you can use them as warming pots for food.

https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Chro...TF8&qid=1468334562&sr=1-1&keywords=chromebook

This chromebook is going for $280. The lady needs a new laptop and this seems like a pretty good option... I'd be buying it for a Christmas present so I'd be holding onto it for a while.

Hmm. We're going to be seeing a lot of Skylake Chromebooks coming out with Android support over the next six months...that's a long time for a piece of tech to wait. I'd tuck the money away somewhere & see what deals are available on BF if I were you...

Edit: Also, if she doesn't have a Chromebook now...imo...give it to her this month rather than waiting. I switched my entire family & extended family out to Chromebooks last Christmas and, after a week or two of tutorials with Google Drive, gDocs, gChat, Hangouts, 2FA setup, etc., I haven't had ANYONE call me in half a year for computer help. It's been aaaaaaaaaawesome

Picked up FireTV for $70, which I had been waiting for price drop on it. Free Prime for a month now.

The "Last Man Standing" Season 1 DVD is only $26.59, compared to its regular price of $26.95. Is this Christmas in July or what?

Prime was ~$70 at one point in Sept. coinciding with some award/event. The way I look at it, I did the BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards credit card (put only $8 Netflix on it) and get $100 back a year just for paying on time every month, so essentially it makes Prime (or Netflix) free.
Yeah, I dig what you're saying. I have that card too, have autopay set on it and some recurring charge, I think maybe my $8.25 monthly gym membership. Free, in a sense.

Don't know if Prime or Netflix is the better idea, I'm unknowing about streaming stuff. I get my movies and box sets 90% from my library, free. The rest, I wrangle off Amazon and ebay.

Yowza. Worse than junk mail?

Here's an idea, maybe it's already there, don't know. I keep a lot (A LOT!) of stuff in my Saved For Later list at Amazon. The prices day to day change on this stuff. Some times I really want to buy an item but think the price is steep at the time and I check on it later, seeing if the price dropped. There should be a site you can go to (here's maybe a commercial idea), where you can enter an Amazon (or other site!) purchase you are interested in and want an alert when the price drops to a level you are interested in.

You can do email I believe. Just has to be sent today. Sent a $50 email to myself and it said I'd receive the $10 promo within 2 days or something.

You don't even need to email yourself, there's a reload button to just add to your account and it should work the same.

Pssshhhh, that little ass pouch? I'd be interested if the pouches came in a MAGNUM size or something.

Think I'm gonna pick up a new SSD. I could replace one of my super old ass big IDE (is that what they're called?) drives that I'm surprised is still running, as it holds all my music/movies/e-books. It says $109.99 but $87.99 at checkout, but either way that's a good deal for me: OCZ Storage Solutions Trion 150 Series 480GB SSD.

i've gotten no notification that this actually went through. used the amazon app, said code applied, but nothing showing on the cart/checkout page and no email subsequent so far.

I assume you clipped the coupon or used the GCPRIME16 code first.

I ordered from desktop and got nothing either but what's supposed to happen is you'll get notification after the GC goes out. I ordered an actual card so I should get notified by tomorrow.

Yes there was an (i) information blurb for the $10 in the cart just before completing the order.

I went with HD antenna/HDMI package for $80. Already have Fire stick. With Comcast new 1024MB cap, it may be hooked up to the other TV.
