Has anyone experienced this? Trying to watch a movie on prime.. only shows SD because of HDCP? Is this 2001?

So I pay for something and try to watch it legally... I get hit with a warning about HDCP which i haven't heard about in literally 10 years. I was going to ask if anyone has a fix or workaround, but you know what I don't care. I don't have time to worry about this and i shouldn't have to.

I'm now downloading it in HD from a torrent site and it will be done in 7 minutes.

I've been watching movies from Amazon, via Prime, for years in HD and have never seen the HDCP problem crop up. Watched a movie in HD as late as 3 days ago...no problems.

So you're watching from a web browser? Last I checked, that forced SD even when everything was HDCP-compliant. It said I could only watch HD from certain devices (like mobile apps on tablets/smartphones and streaming devices like Roku.

Yep. I have no idea what their plan was besides push marketing the nook or whatever is called.

The VuDu client won't play HD over VGA, either.

Fuckers. Their client is really broken anyway, as full-screen playback doesn't work. Thankfully that shit was free, cause I definitely wouldn't pay for it.

search on amazon for "Amazon unboxed", all your HD issues with amazon prime will be solved. Watch streaming Amazon prime movies in HD, with no no more annoying warnings or trying to dump you down to SD mode.

I for one greatly appreciate the efforts of those of you that continue to put up with bullshit like this that help keep the system sustainable for those that don't.

Its not like amazon's servers are capable of streaming HD video anyways. Netflix super HD no problem. Amazon trying to stream 720p- buffering.... constant dropping down to 320x200 or some low res shit.

Other players can do this too. I don't know if any TV's have Prime streaming built-in, but they'd be a work-around.

Some of this DRM type stuff is utterly ridiculous.

Panasonic plasmas have Amazon Instant Video built in, but I use a Roku.

Anyways, it doesnt surprise me Amazon does this. Its not that HDCP went away, it just that most newer monitors and tvs support it better than they used to. I haven't tried watching Amazon on a non HDCP monitor, but this kind of thing was a pain in the butt when the PS3 was first released.

For the record, my monitor is HDCP compliant. It was silverlight that wasn't, I had to disable it via chrome plugins so flash would be used instead.

Sure, your average user would figure that out

Yo ho, yo ho, its civil disobedience don't ya know?

Fight with your wallet, don't buy DRM shackled media.
Fight with your vote, get rid of the corrupt politicians that allowed DMCA to be foisted on consumers.

nvm. I guess you were right. I had an older version of Unbox once I updated it works.
