I won't renew at the moment. It's been ages since I've ordered anything through Amazon and I don't use their VOD service, so there's no incentive for me to continue Prime service at any price right now. When I'm back in consumer-mode, I'm sure I'll get Prime again, even at $100.

For me it was marginal at $79, so I'm cancelling when it runs out. They supposedly have free shipping, but it looks to me like most of the vendors are simply raising the price of items that are eligible for "free" prime shipping. You can easily search on amazon and find countless items where all the "free" prime shipping listings are about $7 more than the same item without the "free" prime shipping. Add to that all the new "add on" products etc, and the benefits shrink even more.

Ultimately I choose to support local merchants whenever I can, and paying $100 to amazon for "free" shipping that isn't always free isn't a good deal for me.

Would have dropped it like a diaper full of.... but since I'm about to be a new dad in new of cheap diapers and don't have a big vehicle to stock up a ton from the store, it will actually save me money in the long run through subscriptions for baby stuff at least. Which means at least another year or two with prime. After that, who knows.

Nah, I'll keep it. Been a Prime member since it rolled out and buy everything but our groceries from Amazon. There was news of a lawsuit either today or yesterday alleging that Amazon increases their prices to absorb your shipping savings as a Prime member, but if that's true, I'm still saving $$$ over going to HellMart or similar.

But like what items? Can you link some examples of s&s items you purchased? I'm curious what items people are buying that's cheaper at Amazon. I grocery shop multiple times a week and if I can purchase things at Amazon for cheaper, I would since I have free Prime.

Hm. I placed 91 orders last year and 20 orders so far this year. So, it will probably be worth it to keep getting 2-day shipping.

I would buy stuff on your Amazon Fresh list but we don't get the service here. The grocery prices are inline with B&M retailers here. If Amazon Fresh was offered here and at reasonable membership cost, I would use that service.

i'll keep it but honestly it's not really necessary unless you want the streaming. you can just save whatever in your cart until it reaches the minimum. Wait like a week for your stuff to arrive. I just love being able to get my stuff in two days and faster if I pay the slight extra fee. I've used that feature a few times for some events. sometimes it's easier to just order from amazon rather than going to the store or waiting for the local store to get stock.

also because of the automated pricing amazon uses, sometimes you have a very small window to pick things up at a cheap price before it goes up again. usually what happens is a FBA seller will try to undercut amazon so they are in the buy box. It works for a short period of time but then the amazon price bots will undercut the FBA seller until they can't maintain that price level any more.

No. I don't use any of their streaming services and now that they collect tax in TN, it's not worth it. I am disappointed that they don't unbundle streaming from shipping.

I'm not a prime subscriber. I don't normally order enough from Amazon to justify the price...and when I know I'm going to have a large order...I sign up for a trial. (I get one free trial per year, my wife gets one free trial per year) Otherwise, it's just not worth it to me.
