Considering how much stuff I order from Amazon, this is no big deal for me. I will still be renewing.

really? There is (or was) an option to add "authorized users" or something to that effect to allow other people in your household to use your Prime membership.

yes you can add 3 relatives for free to prime.

I'm keeping it, I am an Amazon Mom(since Im the actual prime account holder, not my wife) and I save that much on diapers in a year with prime+S&S in a year, let alone wipes, paper towels, TP, a few cleaning supplies, granola bars, and a few other S&S items.

So...this has been very disturbing. I am going to have to pay $99 a year going forward and it includes a service I do not even use. I would use the streaming service if it worked on my phone, but it does not. What a waste!! Its such a huge scam!!!!

Just kidding. I just bought a 9" Kindle Fire HD so I can watch the streaming. Might as well use the service if I'm paying for it.

You are mistaken. You probably tried to overnight a non-prime item. It's always been this way.

Something has definitely changed. I no longer have an overnight option at all on Prime items. I tried it with a squirrel feeder and a bag of food. I had the option of free 2 day or free standard. No option for overnight.

On Friday the overnight option is sometimes removed because the two-day will get it to you on Monday, it also can be replaced with the more expensive Saturday delivery option.

A lot depends upon whom you purchase the item from, a 3P seller that offers Prime or from Amazon itself. There are loads of 3P sellers that offer Prime but not the overnight shipping that buying from Amazon as a seller itself offers.

Yeah I just ordered a new shaker bottle today and it offered $8.99 for Saturday delivery. It would be nice to have some consistency...I wouldn't mind $9 for Saturday if it was ALWAYS that price, and if overnight was ALWAYS $3.99, but it's variable now. Makes it harder to price-justify if you're impulse shopping because you never know what shipping price you're going to get

Plus, the shipping variables have gotten more complex:

1. Ship free 2-day with Prime
2. Third-party vendors without Prime require shipping costs
3. Add-on items ship free, but requires a minimum $35 purchase
4. Overnight starts at $3.99 (I've seen them as high as $24.99 for large items)
5. Saturday delivery is $8.99

So with the price hike, Amazon Prime has gone from a Hot Deal to a good deal. It's still a good deal, but it's not crazy-hot like it was before (if you bought a lot of stuff online).

My new blurays will be here tomorrow. Sometimes they send prime with USPS so it looks like I got free Saturday next day delivery instead of normal two day delivery. Sweet

I get that a lot if I order on Friday.

I hate this. Why not make it ship free with any other prime item? The box is already coming.

I renewed my Prime account in January, but $100 is the magic number and I won't renew it again next year.

More and more, I'm finding that I can buy anything I want at Amazon, but only in the same sense that I can buy anything I want at Super Walmart. I can't always find the actual product that I'm looking for, and what's available isn't always the best quality, nor is it always the best price. But it can be had at Walmart 24x7, and it can be had from Amazon with free two day shipping, so I buy it there. When Walmart becomes a 15 mile drive, or Amazon raises the cost of Prime, I'd just as soon buy things from better stores.

I'll be cancelling my Prime membership when it comes due this year and just sign up for the free month sometime in November during the holiday sales rush and cancel within 30 days as I did prior to joining full-time a few years ago.

There's just too many alternatives now to Prime that I have like Costco/Amex/Shoprunner for $55 effective or Best Buy Elite which is free based on purchasing history.

I also strongly disagree with Amazon's practice of differentiating Free Super Saver and Free Prime orders. I've found the actual shipping time and shipping method for most items is exactly the same (UPS 3-day, USPS Priority, LS), the only difference in time to your door is how much time Amazon spends sitting on your orders in their warehouse.

I won't be paying $100 for Amazon just to get off their asses and ship an order out their door, $80 was already pushing it but now it's just a matter of principle. If I need something quickly or it's less than $35 I'll buy it elsewhere, if I don't need it quickly and I'm willing to wait, I'll use Amazon if their price is the best.

You had this same stupid reason in the hot deals forum, but to be perfectly honest you just sound like a moron.
Amazon has hundreds of thousands of orders to fulfill each and every day, with prime you basically get to jump to the front of the line, without prime the send out your package when it's cheapest for them. I have had super saver shipping arrive in less than advertised time because they had the item in a warehouse less than 50 miles away.

They aren't making you wait just because you didn't pay more, they are just going to use the cheapest possible way to get it to you to save themselves money, and that usually means taking longer

Would have dropped it like a diaper full of.... but since I'm about to be a new dad in new of cheap diapers and don't have a big vehicle to stock up a ton from the store, it will actually save me money in the long run through subscriptions for baby stuff at least. Which means at least another year or two with prime. After that, who knows.

my sister got Amazon Prime for Mom's - free for first year. When hers ran out, my brother in law signed up as a Mom lol and it worked.

this was in the last 2.5 years so see if they still have it.

Amazingly enough, I did get a Sunday shipment from them this past Sunday and there was no upcharge for the delivery. When my order status said it was going to be delivered on a Sunday, I was skeptical but it really did arrive.

Amazon recently partnered up with the USPS for Sunday delivery. Gotten a couple myself already.

Nonsense, place 2 orders for the exact same item, Prime for one and Free Super Saving for the other. The Prime order will process, package and ship ASAP, while the Free Super Saving will sit there for 3-5 days in processing.

The carrier method and time with the carrier will be EXACTLY the same for *MOST* items (UPS 3-day/Ground, LS, or USPS Priority) from a warehouse that all but guarantees 1-2 business day arrival, with a few exceptions like media that may go through media saver USPS mail.

They are paying exactly the same to the carrier, you are only paying for them to not sit on your order for 3-5 days before shipping it out their door. Even worst, Amazon's logistics have gotten so bad that it is not uncommon to get 3 different shipments for 3 items in the same order. And you wonder why they feel they have to increase their Prime prices!

When you place a Prime order, they'll ship it from different warehouses if necessary, each by a method ensured to give 2 day delivery. With a non-Prime order, they appear to do everything possible to minimize the number of boxes (and hence their shipping cost). My guess is that in the latter case they ship pieces of orders from warehouse to warehouse via freight, then consolidate and ship the order from the nearest warehouse. It's not hard to see why that would take several extra days. With simpler orders, say a single item, I think you'll see a difference of at most a day or two, due only to the lower priority given to pulling a non-Prime order.

I think it works like the lines at Disneyland. It takes a while to get on a ride when the VIP members keep skipping to the front. What can you do though? They paid for the right to get on rides as fast as they can walk to the front of the line. You just have to wait until the VIP members get caught up enough for the rest of the line to move. Likewise prime members paid for the right to receive items within 2 days. Amazon is bumping them up in the queue to fulfill their part of that agreement. This causes the non-prime packages to languish in the warehouse until prime shipments are sufficiently caught up to give them some attention. Amazon can't treat them both the same because that would negatively affect prime shipments that they are obligated to ship within a very short time frame. If everyone is first in line, then no one is.

I'll eat it. I do about 80 orders a year to totallling around $4k, so it's worth it.

Also, downtown abbey and the Americans.

I'm glad. I get in streaks where I pay the extra $4 on shit I don't need, let alone need right away.

The six or so months I went without Prime sucked. I'll never let it lapse again.
