amazon sale arkham series question

question: it says steam drm but no mention of GFWL or any mention in the amazon comments/reviews. can i play this on steam without having to have GFWL acct?

doubt it. AC uses GFWL. That said, I've never had an issue with GFWL. I know others have, though.

You'll need a GFWL account for both games.

I'm not a fan of GFWL but it really isn't intrusive after you get the account created. I wouldn't let it stop you from enjoying those awesome games.

You can't play without GFWL, but you dont have to create your account on the Microsoft database, you can create home profile and after this you will be play game. Those games are my favorites

There was an update at some point to GFWL that either broke or made it more difficult to play offline (before the update there was a giant offline toggle that you could use and i played older gfwl games offline for years (well 2 or 3) until the update that broke or changed the feature. I think it was the first batman i played when i required to update GFWL. I really hate GFWl - everytime I have to update it it is such a pia - but having said that I've heard the second batman (city?) is really good so I think i might pick that up during this sale.

The Batman Arkham games are the only ones that I play that use the GFWL system. While the GFWL system was annoying at first, mainly when it came to installing the DLC, once you have it setup you can easily forget about it and just play via Steam like any other games. After the initial setup you don't have to log into GFWL afterwards unless you want to have your achievements get recorded for your GFWL account when you play, and even then you can just set it up to login automatically when the game launches.

Not exactly, GFWL also encrypts all your savegames and such, and is a royal PITA if you need to restore/recover your OS.
GFWL is, and always will be horrible to deal with, BUT, these games are good.
Wish they would do some releases that drop GFWL, then it would be a instant buy.

You may want to check that they patched out the stutter issues with Arkham City. I got a free code from a graphics card I bought and it was unplayable for me due to the game stuttering during certain sections for what seemed like no reason at all. There's probably forum posts out there that detail the problem if you're interested. At the time it didn't seem like they were concerned about fixing it, but I have no idea if that's changed since I uninstalled after about an hour due to the stutter. So just a heads up more than anything in case you happen run across the same thing..

There were some well published issues with the game in DX11 mode when it came out. I think they patched most of them. I think I played in DX9 mode anyway as the performance hit in DX11 was still pretty decent for not a lot of quality increase.

Really though, loved the game. Don't miss out on it.
