Amazon has been goofing with shipping times for a good year, and it varies all over. I agree with others it seems to be a push to get people to buy prime.

Amazon seems to be skimping on packaging lately. Two of my orders arrived damaged this year. Never had a damaged package in the previous 13 years or so.

If it's not Amazon, could be the courier... Whole holiday season, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and regular Christmas shopping and all.

Ok perfect.

Thanks for all the replies. I let Prime expire a while ago but I am going to pay up.

Can you stream Prime videos to Android yet?

nope, no fracking aap, and the full website wont work as Android stopped supporting Flash! no luck there

I order tons of stuff through amazon year round and have prime for the shipping benefits. Lately it's 1 day longer than usual for shipping. Still great, but that two day shipping feels a lot longer when it stretches to 3.

I have flash on my Galaxy S4. n00b

It isn't officially supported, you're right, but it isn't hard to work around that

Not that I really need flash on my phone that often, but every once in a while it is nice to have available.

...at the lowest prices anywhere....

Starting to sound like a WalMart commercial...."lowest prices anywhere". Too bad that's not quite correct. I've had prime for years now and usually the prices are better. But always? Not a chance.

I believe Amazon purpously slows down regular shipping to entice people to pay for Prime. I ordered a few items off there a few months ago, 3 days after I ordered that I ordered a 27" monitor from Ebay which shipped from KOREA. I ended up getting the monitor a day before my Amazon order. And the monitor had free shipping. I don't order enough from Amazon to make Prime worth paying for. And their default shipping sucks so bad for me any more I don't order anything from there unless I absolutely can't find it elsewhere. I've had plenty of orders where I place them at noon on a Monday and it's still being processed 3 days later.

Zappos free shipping is always lightning fast, I know it's a totally different kind of site than Amazon, but I get near Prime speed on my shoes and never have to pay more than their standard rates, which are cheap.

With no tax and free shipping it works out quite well, especially for expensive electronics.

Im a cheap ass so I dont use prime and always wait until I have enough stuff to buy to get free shipping. (If I am in truly in a hurry for something, I just buy it locally and eat the extra cost).

But yes, I have noticed that over the past year the free shipping takes a lot longer to come than it did in years past. Amazon has a big distro center in my metro area and there were times I would order something in the morning (take free shipping) and it would be at my home when I got in that evening (delivered by ontrac). For the past year or so it seems like it averages about a week from the time I order until the time I receive it.

I dropped Amazon Prime due to them fucking up most of my "2day" orders lately.

$80 saved, and I still get the crap I want few days later.

I doubt they purposefully slow down just to get you to subscribe, but I know Prime members get priority and there are more of those every day. So it makes sense to me that they keep pushing off the non-Prime members until they're at the tail end of their deadline in order to keep the Prime members happy. Amazon basically turned their store into a Costco/Sam's Club membership store, except the membership isn't mandatory. Members are just allowed to cut in line in front of you.

It's random. My last order (not prime) was ordered on Saturday and got here by Monday, via USPS no less. Sold by Amazon.

I've had another order in the last 3 months where it wasn't shipped out for nearly a week.

Looking through my history, generally it's fast enough (3-4 days received) that I don't think Prime is worth it.

I've been on and off Prime for a few years, and I really do notice the difference between shipping speed. Not transit speed, just the time it takes them to actually ship the order.

Amazon began to collect sales tax in my state over a year ago, and my buying has fallen off with them since that time. I decided to go Prime-less again when the renewal came up.

My sister was unknowingly sharing my Prime account for two years (had added her when I was a student (it used to be allowed), and she never got removed), and she noticed the change when I let my Prime expire. She offered to pay half, so I'm in again.

So... if you can find four or five friends who want in, you can split the $80 cost. Just need each other's email address and birthday.

I think the shipping carriers are doing the slowdown. I order something via 2 day and it arrives in my city in one day and is delivered to me the next. If I order something standard, it'll often get shipped to my city in a day or two and then sit in a warehouse for several days before being delivered.
