It could be decent if Amazon actually shipped quickly. They take forever on the processing at the warehouse. Plus Amazon is not that cheap on stuff.
I think they de-prioritize super saver free shipping orders and purposely drag their feet on processing them in order to encourage more people to choose a paid shipping option.
I think this is true. I sometimes pay the base shipping on somethink that would ship for free. It takes several days less than "Super Saver". Sometimes its worth it..
Yes, they do go slower for Super Saver. Here's a response I got from them about a "Ships in 24 hours" order that didn't ship for three days...
"For this order, I see that the shipping method selected is our free
Super Saver Shipping option. This option is for customers who are
willing to wait a little longer to receive their items in exchange
for free shipping.
As stated on our web site, when you choose Super Saver Shipping, you
can expect your order to take a few days longer to leave our
fulfillment center than if you had selected our standard shipping
option. This extra time is reflected in your estimated shipment
date.
For example, items in our inventory usually ship out within 24 hours
when standard, Two-Day, or One-Day shipping is selected; when Super
Saver Shipping is selected, these items will ship within 4 to 6
business days. (Please note that weekends are not counted as
business days).
This additional time allows us to ship your order in the most
cost-efficient way possible, and enables us to pass the savings,
in the form of free shipping, on to you.
I apologize if this time frame was not clear at the time you placed
your order. The full details of the Super Saver Shipping option are
listed here:
