I truly doubt this will eliminate B&M shopping. Not everybody in the country is going to hear about this deal and say, "I'm never shopping retail again!" Just because YOU prefer to shop online doesn't mean everybody else does.

They already have most of my online business (In regards to $$). The rest is ussualy Buy.com, Ebay, and occassionaly Amazon.

I kinda hope that NewEgg doesn't try something similar. I'd make so many more impulse buys form the egg.

I think this is true. I sometimes pay the base shipping on somethink that would ship for free. It takes several days less than "Super Saver". Sometimes its worth it..

Yes, they do go slower for Super Saver. Here's a response I got from them about a "Ships in 24 hours" order that didn't ship for three days...

I finally signed up yesteray.

First order shipped same day, scheduled to arrive in 2 from date of order. Same with second order.

I also applied the 2nd day to items that I ordered before I got Prime that were sitting waiting for an out of stock item (picked supersaver/group order together). Two in-stock items shipped and were delivered the next day. One item was $2 and one was $5. 2nd day was free.

Not trying to threadcrap, just being careful. It doesn't say EVERY item. If it was, then this would be very interesting. I suppose if you purchase from there at least once a month, then this would be a decent deal.

untrue, I shop online also because it's more convenient and saves me time having to go to the store, find the item in store, wait in line, pay, go back home, etc...

they sre actually usually the absolute cheapest on many items, but they do change their prices on a daily basis, depending (i guess) on competitors's prices, so in fact they could easily raise prices if they want to - and they would unless it hurts their sales volume. My suspicion is that this "deal" may signal a beginning of a shift in their strategy towards higher prices. With all the "club members" they might be able to raise prices without hurting sales.

Brilliant observation. That must be exactly what they are thinking.

Once you've bought into their "free" shipping, you'll be willing to pay a little more for each item you buy, because it will still be close to the same price you would pay elsewhere after you factor in shipping.

The great thing about free shipping is that you feel so free to return something you aren't happy with. So they may end up with more returns than they are used to.
