Free prime shipping is the only thing useful to me. It's nice to be able to order a book and not have to worry about the $35 minimum spending requirement and get it in 2-3 days. I just hope my sister renews again so I can keep piggybacking off the old grandfathered account. I pay for $120/yr for Costco executive membership. There's no way I would pay another $120/yr for Amazon Prime. Costco is far more useful to me and if I had to choose which one to pay and keep, it would be Costco.
True. In our HH, I maintain the Costco Exec membership, and my wife maintains the Amz Prime account. This way we have both, but if push comes to shove, we'd dump Amazon Prime and keep Costco. I see far more value in Costco than Amz. We don't use *any* of the bundled services included with Prime, we just want 2 day shipping and no mins, but at some point, there's a tipping point with Amazon. In 4 more years, they might start charging $200/year. I'm honestly surprised that they don't charge an annual fee for their Chase Amazon Visa card because even as a non-paying Prime member, you still get 3% back on all purchases. 5% if you are Prime, still no annual fee?
