I totally understand the limited quantities, and I would understand if I loaded the page and went through the buying process, but 1,000 people were quicker. But to not even be able to load the page at all is a crock of sh1t.

really this is no different that when radio stations have promotions and when you call in to be the nth caller the line is busy. Same smell.

Yeah, except with a radio promotion, you can call from anywhere in the US and have the same chance of getting a ring-in, vs. this promo you had to be near their servers to get any shot at this.

And yes, milliseconds (and network hops) mean everything for something like this.

I can't believe there are actually babies who wonder if there is possible legal action. Well, I can believe it, but it is still stupid to even ask.

I also can't believe the babies getting mad at Amazon because their server and 'net connection couldn't handle the traffic. This is what happens when an amazing deal happens at a pre-announced time - overload and lots of people can't get in. The site is already back. There was no reasonable way for Amazon to assure sufficient resources for this, so there was no need to change. We all knew that most of us wouldn't get in on the deal. It's trying for the deal that drives us, and when we miss out, that's just unfortunate. Go find something else to whine and cry about.

Greetings from Amazon.com.

We're writing about your recent order for the Sony Playstation 3 from
Target at Amazon.com.

Amazon.com recently encountered a problem that caused the Sony
Playstation 3 to appear as available to order for a short period of
time from Target at Amazon.com.

Unfortunately, this item is not actually available for purchase and
Amazon.com has cancelled this item from the following order(s)

Me too... pretty damn pissed about that.

i guess xbox 360 is no comparison for ps3, or amazon's server is much faster than costco (which is probably true as well)

So for those who picked up the Mongoose MTN bike...is that a good deal? I've been looking to pick up a bike for awhile now. Not for any commuting or anything like that...just for exercise and leisure riding every now and then

I have one in my shopping cart right now

Bikes? I didn't need no stinken bike. ^^ I have a car. I thought the runner ups were available to buy before the xbox was, were they? Cause they were sold out minutes after the xbox closed up.

Ahh well, I was hopefull, but now I clearly see there was no chance. Not that there is any xbox 360 games out now that I want, so I can wait and hopefully another Christmas sale will rear its ugly head.

Seriously, why are people complaining? They have no incentive at all to sell these products at a loss. This is not like a normal B&M tactic where you will go and not get the good deal, and then potentially consider buying something else since you are there. Why upgrade your servers at high cost to accommodate 1000 times normal peak traffic just so you can lose even more money.

God I hope you don't work in IT support. You're precisely the kind of person I strive not to be. There's no such thing as a stupid question. Only stupid people who refuse to answer them.

to delsvr...they don't actually give you any code to enter...once you get in they make u answer a stupid math question (what's 17+16) or something along the lines of that. once you've submitted that they put it in your shopping cart with a coupon code automatically applied. i dont think there's anyway that one of us can pass along the bike to someone else.

Forcing you to answer a math question to buy a product? That's discrimination! What about all the mentally retarded folks? There's the basis for your lawsuit.
