EF5? Damn. It was like the Macy's parade but for tornadoes. Monster tornadoes.

And this shit is just going to get worse. We've even had some tornadoes in NJ this past year.

If I lived in the midwest, it would only be in a bunker. I don't understand how people manage to live under constant threat like that. I know predicting them has gotten better and usually there's time to get underground but even so . . . crazy shit.

Your house getting ripped apart is not fun either even if you survive the storm.

Yeah that would be my worse nightmare honestly. I simply can't imagine losing everything I worked for, in one quick instant. Not to mention the financial burden. I would not be able to afford it. Even if the insurance covers, there's always "extra" indirect costs that are not covered. Still have to show up to work while trying to deal with all that too.

Part of the reason why property values are lower in Tornado Alley and insurance actually makes sense at times.

And living "disposably".

With the news of the deaths, I have edited this post.

My condolences to the families of those who were severely injured or killed.

Wow, Amazon really having bad luck lately lol. Seriously though hope no one was hurt.

CNN says 2 dead. edit: deaths now 6 in the Amazon warehouse collapse. 45 made it out.

"And in the western Illinois city of Edwardsville, part of an Amazon warehouse collapsed, killing at least two people, and rescue attempts are underway, authorities said."

Wow, that's pretty scary. Thank God that I live in New England. We still get the occasional hurricane, though, and plenty of snow, usually. Though not as bad as Buffalo, NY and Montana.

Yeah, we had a few nasty tropical storms this year.

I finally got my generator back today, which was DOA right before the last tropical storm hit. I had to get the carburetor replaced on it because the prior owner left old gas with ethanol in it. Totally trashed the poor thing.

Let that be a lesson to you folks with generators in your emergency kit. Ethanol Kills Engines if you leave it in there!

Biden has been in denial of tornadoes existence?
Not exactly. He gaffed a couple months ago by saying that we don’t call them that anymore… right after rejecting Ossoff and Warnock’s appeal for individual aid:

As someone left injured and homeless by a direct hit from the strongest part of this EF-4 tornado, I am obviously upset. Clearly, he didn’t pay much mind to their appeals if he thinks that we don’t even call them tornados anymore.

If the NWS survey determines this was a single tornado, it could be the longest track tornado in US history, exceeding the 1925 TriState.

Don’t put too much stock into their evaluation. According to them there was one death and no injuries in what was previously the worst tornado of 2021… and yet I was injured. Not like I kept quiet about it either:

Your statement is way too broad. I can't copy and paste from this page but it's not a long article and it breaks things down pretty succinctly. https://times-herald.com/news/2021/...ividual-assistance-for-newnan-tornado-victims

FEMA did grant aid to local governments in Georgia affected by the tornadoes, just not on an individual basis due to Georgia not meeting certain metrics, such as their state having enough resources to do so for that sized event. During the same period of time FEMA did give individual assistance for both flood and tornado damage in neighboring TN and Alabama - so clearly they recognized tornado damage back then, making your statement completely false. I am sorry for you having to deal with tornado damage but your information is wrong about the recognition of tornado damage at the time by FEMA. They did reject individual aid, only in certain counties in Georgia, but specified why they were different than counties in the neighboring states of TN and AL, where individual aid was given. I am not saying I agree or disagree with anything but it's definitely much more nuanced than your statements.
