Anyone purchase a phone on Amazon? I was browsing accessories for a possible new phone and notice their prices were significantly lower than I saw on Verizon's site for new phones. $119 for a new Droid X that is $199 on Verizon's site, and that is including a MIR. Am I missing something here?

No you're not missing anything. They're always waaaaaaay cheaper than pretty much anyone else. I've personally never bought from them but know many people that have and had no problems at all. Also, if you're not keen to buying online, try Best Buy as they take off the MIR money at the register. No waiting for any rebates at all.

I've done it. No problems at all. Be forewarned, because they're giving you huge discounts, if you cancel your contract within the first six months, you owe Amazon a ETF as well, not just the carrier.

I bought my Droid X from Dell Mobility or whatever it's called; they were offering the phone for $0, so I had to buy it. I've seen the Droid X on Amazon Wireless for $49 a ton of times, so you might want to hold out; $119 sounds pretty expensive.

Like Deeko said above, by purchasing at this discount, you have to keep your contract for 180 days or else you pay Amazon Wireless $250 on top of the $350 early termination fee from Verizon.

Best Buy may give you the rebate instantly, but they also charge tax on the full retail price of the phone (per some stupid California law). Much cheaper on Amazon because of that.

The $49 is only if it's a new account, I'm already on a family account. I won't be canceling anytime soon so I guess this is the route I'm going.

I bought my Droid X for a penny in the November sale. Shipping was fast, and it was packaged well. Not problems at all buying from them. No problems with activation either.

I bought my Razr from them years ago. They even paid me $150 or something to do it. Of course with a 2 yr contract.

I bought my Droid from amazon wireless 11 months ago. At that time Verizon was still selling the phone for for $199. Amazon was selling it for 49.99. The entire "purchase to activation " process was flawless. As others have stated here, yes, Amazon does have its own ETF should you leave Verizon withon six months. Didnt bother me in the least, as I didnt intend to go anywhere else. Also wanted to mention that about a week after I bought the phone, the price came down to $25.00. Amazon credited me with with the $25.00 after I called CS to inquire about it.

I got my HTC Surround through them for a penny. I figured that if I ended up hating the phone, I would just re-activate my old iPhone, sell the Surround on ebay and then get something else.
