What blows my mind is that 6500 people a year end up in the emergency room due to injuries sustained while opening tamper-proof packages.

pretty awesome. I'd probably pay a couple bucks extra for it on some stuff, I've got like 3 cuts on my hands right now from opening up the package from new new headset last week.

this is awesome.

i just wish that Amazon would accomplish this by raping whoever decides to release their product in this packaging, rather than c"collaborating" with them.

I don't see how much protection this is going to offer compared to regular packaging.

What, you've never almost sliced half your hand off trying to open one of those things?

Look at the video they have and tell me if I am missing something if all they do is ship it in a box with a small piece of cardboard on top.

Compared to regular packaging where they use actual protection that is and all the parts are in a usual stiff container holding all the separate parts in a safe area.

Errr... scissors? I've never come close to injuring myself with packaging

If a plastic package is being too much trouble, out comes the Dremel + cutting wheel.

I don't get why this should be a big deal. I remember a time when clamshell packages were easy to open, but then they started heat-sealing []ieverything[/i] for whatever reason.

I bought pruning shears just for those things. Some of them get pretty tough.

lol i swear i thought of this idea in college for a business class. i concluded then it was more of a value add than an actual revenue generating "invention."

i'm glad amazon has enough volume to demand this type of innovation. Kudos to them.

what sorta worries me is that this isn't as tamper-evident as a heat sealed clamshell design, so what is to indicate to me that this product could potentially be a refurbished item that they repackaged using this method?

I hate having to use an xacto knife on everything I buy !

I nearly broke a set of headphones trying to pry them from the package.

I really don't see this taking off, forget buying one for a gift, yay brown box! It should lower costs, but of course it won't....

If you can't open a piece of plastic without slicing your hand off, perhaps you need to swing by the local elementary school and borrow a pair of safety scissors....

Some kind of break seal should do it.

Kids toys are the worst packaging ever. You need a knife, screwdriver, wire cutters, and cutting torch to get the damn thing out of the box.

My thoughts exactly. Amazon says it's just as good, but I'd like to see some testing.

Since when do they ship boxes in just their packaging?

Don't get me wrong if they ship it in just the frustration free packaging, it obviously will be inferior, but I would hope it will still be packed properly in a shipping box. In which case I really don't see any difference in protection offered by either method.

I'd greatly prefer things to come wrapped in wax paper or a plain box vs. goddamn blisterpack.
