Amazon's New In Home Delivery Service - Package is put inside your door

It's crossed my mind to setup something like this, but I'd rather design it myself. I'd just have a relay that activates a solonoid latch and a big decorative chest box on my porch would unlock and they can put the box in.

Heck if I'm only expecting one delivery I could more or less just leave it open with instructions to put it inside and then when they do it would lock. I'd still have the option to remote unlock/lock it.

Anyone do Amazon locker pick up? I've done it a couple of times but the nearest locker is a 15 minute walk from my place so it's kind of a hassle.

Yeah it works great, tons of Amazon lockers around my work including convenience stores (7 Eleven/Plaid Pantry), Whole Foods and more.

Yeah no thanks to this. Fortunately I've never had an issue with someone stealing my internet orders so I guess there might be at least a small benefit to my high property taxes

I can't wait for the first news story about an Amazon delivery dude letting a family's dog out or getting attacked by a dog. Or opening the door to somebody's kid masturbating when they were supposed to be in school.

Lol the people making these delivery aren't even actual Amazon employees, they are people off the streets that Amazon contracts out to, to deliver packages. Their is basically no background check and they get very low pay.

They are background checked as well as a Lyft driver is. We know how well those checks are. Would you trust a random Lyft driver to go into your home?

No, of course not. I'm not saying I agree at all with this BS. My home is truly my castle, and the only people allowed in are nice looking blonde woman and family. All else stay out or else you look down the barrow of an assault shotgun.

I have read in a book about survival techniques, escape and evasion and all that, that the front door is where most of your crime happens. In fact, I read the mafia got to a guy by posing as police officers. They just rang the door bell, dude opened the door and he ended up with an unloaded clip of .380 bullets in his head.

The devil hangs out at the front door. Even if there's a screaming woman yelling at the door to let her in, call police. You could be set up for a home invasion, which usually don't end too well.
