I thought it was a great episode ... a crazy amount happened ...

I can understand why some people didn't like the previous episode but I think it had a purpose ... for example when Linden told Holden that she was just on the phone with her ex- their dialogue showed how their partnership had changed for the better. It also makes you think they might be partners for the second season although I'm not sure how the plot would be worked out to allow that.

As for the twist I thought it was pretty obvious
when the escort described Orpheus as kind and sad ... this is pretty much of the opposite of the billionaire dude, who the Beau Soleil evidence seemed to implicate ... he's more manic and a jerk

In my opinion the twist is going to be that it was Gwen who killed Rosie ... either that she was jealous or got rid of her because Rose was going to expose Richmond. Jamie might be another possibility but to me he doesn't really seem like he has the stomach to kill someone but Gwen seems pretty frosty.

I have not watched this show yet, but having lived in or around Seattle my entire life, I am curious how the show portrays the city? I am sure they show Seattle always gloomy and raining, but anything beyond the cliched?

I've read alot online saying that they protray Seattle as having TOO much rain. I can't even recall any scenes that had any sunshine in it. You guys do get sunshine don't you?

I personally think that they make the city look beautiful and varied. A major metropolitan city that has integrated itself decently with nature.

Oh yea, we get sun but Seattle definately lies in a lowland marine climate and all that entails. There are positives to this, while we don't get the 90+ degree days of pure sun for a month straight, we rarely have snow either. And if someone needs either of those, the mountains are 90 minutes or less away and eastern WA just on the other side. Personally, I melt if it gets to 80 degrees.

But without having seen the show, it sounds like the city is portrayed as being dark and raining to a higher degree than reality.

What I love about WA the most is just how varied the state is.

  • Marine
    Rain Forest
    Ocean Coastal
    Island Marine
    Puget Sound
    Alpine
Desert (photos of eastern WA might have you think you are in the SW)
    Major River/Columbia
    Mountain/Volcano

And probably a few more I am not thinking of.

Really? Give an example then.

Body found in councilman's car. Classic womanizing "john" politician.

Might be a bit too obvious though. Dumping a body in a car that belongs to you. My guess is that he was using her services, and it was probably Gwen. She's the only one who's never been a suspect, it would make the most sense with.

Anyone remember that look Terry (Rosie's aunt, Michelle Forbe's sister) gave the rich guy during the wake? Jealous aunt?

I'm really surprised people are saying it was so good, and that it wasn't "predictable". I've seen things called "predictable" for way more surprising things.

But you said "way more surprising things" were called "predictable."

I'm confused, because the example you give seems, if anything, to be the exact opposite. Correct me if I'm just not getting this, but I don't see your example as "way more surprising" and I also don't see anyone calling it "predictable" . . . except maybe you.

Not trying to troll you, but WHAT am I missing here about what you're trying to get at? :ninja:

Doctor Who spoiler below:

I'm actually thinking of the Doctor Who Series 6 mid-season finale revelation. Read a lot of comments about how it was so predictable because the name was a dead giveaway ("River Song") in retrospect. That and a lot of people had already speculated that this was the case. I personally thought it was great.

In the "Killing", Sunday's episode suggests that it's the classic power-hungry politician who used and murdered a hooker. And she was found in the politician's car, which was known since episode one. If this is indeed the case (and it strongly looks like it, but not confirmed), then I'm surprised people haven't called it predictable yet.

Personally, I don't think it is, nor do I care. I've just read a lot of comments from unsatisfied TV viewers.

HOLY SHIT...

It's coming back for a season 2!

GOOD. Cause I was about to go on a rampage if it just ended like that.

Well then, we still don't know who really did it, do we? Not surprised since there's going to be a 2nd season, but of course another AMC show goes out on the old 'did he shot him or not' scene. Looks like Stephen is crooked too, no surprise there.

Fuck this show... it feels like I know less now than what it started with.

What a waste of time watching this show, seriously.

Mostly this.
Waaayyyy too far out of left field. Nothing up to this point supports that ending. Unless, unless, Holder really believes that Richmond was guilty, and was just forcing what he thought would happen anyway. And is just working with someone who has an interest in seeing Richmond go down. But for a whole "he was in on it from the beginning" thing...eh. F-that. If I want conclusions that make no sense, I'll go rewatch Lost.

Yea.
I did expect one last red herring.... I didn't think Richmond did it, but I did figure that they would reveal it. I know they never explicitly said they will reveal the killer, but it feels like I'm being duped.

Not only that, there was an interview with the writer, Veena Sud, and she basically said that this was planned from the beginning and that there was no alternate ending, even if the show didn't get renewed. I'm beginning to think that the only reason why AMC renewed the show was because of that ending.

If you observe closely; Holder says "she bought the photographs" to an other person who is driving the car.. and I have absolutely no idea who that person might be.

By the looks of it, next season should start right from the end with Linden running off the plane. Don't think she's the type that takes kindly to being duped.

The Holder thing is weird. Don't see how he could have planned that from the start if he's running everyone, not just the mayor.

Ya, the show practically just hit the reset button

unless Richmond's GF/campaign manager is somehow involved in some sort of conspiracy, then I don't see how Richmond really is innocent. her testimony regarding his absence, being soaking wet is rather damning. She certainly looked rather devastated with all of the info--when no other characters were around. she wouldn't be acting at those time.

So, the mayor sends her photos of Rosie & Richmond. Following his online ID for the escort service, the one girl IDing him as the creep that wanted to drown her...Tracking the theory that Richmond was with Rosie, in the car that night, led them directly to the gas station. That's quite revealing. The only way this could work as conspiracy is if the person who anonymously doctored the toll booth photo for Holder also doctored those sent to the Mayor with Rosie & Richmond.

I had hoped that this series ended right there, as unfulfilling as that may have been. As it stands, Richmond still looks damn guilty, the doctored photo is desperate, improper police work, but ultimately doesn't change the reality of the situation (not that it's acceptable to plant such evidence). Richmond's assassination is just another (potentially) needless death as a result of sloppy police investigation. --seriously, they had the info on the gas mileage and everything regarding that car the day it was pulled from the lake. Yet they followed several hunches and assumptions that lead them in the wrong direction.

But if I had to sum up this show in one word:

RAIN.

Diappointed in the ending as well. I understand that they probably want to entice people to view next season, but I think it could have been done by having someone out of nowhere as the killer and then use S2E1 to expain the how and why, while intermingling the beginning of a new mystery to get people hooked. That said, I'll be watching again next season.

Oh well, only something like 27 days until Breaking Bad is back
