AMD 1.8 GHz Duron/mobo, Fry's: how hot @ $59?

1.8 Duron & same mobo for $59.99 now..are these Durons based on TBred core ..?

yes, they are tbred based. i think it was hotter as a 1.6GHz + mobo for $49, but this is still a good deal nonetheless.

Yes, the 1.4, 1.6, and 1.8 GHZ Durons are based on the TBred core....

Where is the link to "unlock" a 1.6 or 1.8 and utilize the TBred core?

i know this sounds crazy, but how slow can you run this combo? i am looking to build a quiet/lower power server for home use. i looked at several via c3 and used celeron alternatives. those cost almost as much as this combo. why not buy this combo now and underclock? if i want better performance in the future, i can always overclock it.

I'd wait, the basic deal moves every few days, so next week etc it will swing back to the hotter deal.

can these go from 133mhz -> 166mhz?

unlocking the multiplier is useless on these boards i think... no multiplier adjustments? altho i may be completely wrong.

I sure wish they would offer these deals on-line. I think I'm like 1,500 miles from the nearest Fry's and Outpost.com never seems to have the same deals (plus their product line is severely limited).

1.6 or 1.8 still a great gift for my folks and grandfolks compare to old k6-2/350 mhz ....going to pickup this sweet combo with some extra pc2100 ram I have
