Whoa . . . just re-checked for retail and there is a retail one with the full 3 year warranty running for 199. Nice! I think its worth the measly $10 extra despite the fact that chances are you won't need it.
Looks like I may be buying my first AMD chip! Never thought I'd do it, but this deal is too good to pass up. I've been looking forward to 1Ghz. What's a good mobo for this? (for overclocking of course ;-)
MSI k7t pro2a. Check anands review of socket A mobo's, it came out on top. Very reasonable prices too. I have always liked www.twco.com for their combos, and they stock this mobo. The price drop hasnt reflected there yet, but im sure it will soon. Thats my opinion.
CNET has a post saying Intel price drop to be announced this weekend.
They say drop will be in range of 6%-10% on PIII and Celeron.
That would make PIII 1 GHZ about $400 (on pricewatch for $446 now).
I have a soyo K7VIA and an asus K7M. I know these boards support Athlon chips but do they support T-Birds? I cant seem to be able to tell the difference.
