I wish soneone would give a definitive answer That article's almost a month old and I've read different since so I'd like to hear a detailed explanation of why it is or isn't a Newcastle based CPU I'm using.

Huh? I got Cool and Quiet enabled on mine. Running 800Mhz/1.275V right now.

It never was confirmed to be newcastle. The longer AMD keeps us in the dark, the more we talk about it and the more pub they get. However, even if it is not Newcastle, it is a quality part at a reasonable price and I don't think anybody in their right mind should be unhappy about it.

Perhaps it is because certain (most) Athlon64 motherboards do not have support for Cool'n'Quiet.

It's probably just a bios update for most to support the C&Q.

Its an updated version of silicone with probably some more features. AMD has done this in the past.
