Alright, its been forever since i first thought about buying an amd i was an intel fan boy for the longest time but after seeing many benchmarks and since i usually only game I decided to do so... so I bought the rig in my sig... just giving people a heads up of what i accomplished...

I got to 2.55 with memory at 1:1... completely stable.. and prime ran for over 5 hours np's I also have had no crash's on this setting or any problems besides that.. now anyone that has my rig or close to ill just let you know some of the settings i have on and what i have off..

dynamic oc'ing : off.
aggressive timing: off
fsb 255
htt 4x
core voltage 1.525
memory timings 2.5 3 3 10
no divider
no volt change for my memory
also i am rated at a 4025 as cbid and ill give u you guys some screenshots right now to check out ...btw im running on xp sp2

Everything works awesome and its prime stable.. atleast the 5 hours i ran it... some ppl would say i need to run it 24 hours.. but i noticed when it wasnt stable prime found out alot quicker than 5 hours... but im leaving it on all day soon.. i still want to make sure my as5 is set the way it is suppose to be before letting it go all night .. but this memory running at 1:1 is crazy.. get a stick of this its great!

crossphyr- Nice setup. I have a 3500 and the same mb/ram/vid card. Why do you have your ram timings so high?? Was it not stable with 2-2-2-5 timings?? I am also working on getting mt OC to the max level. I Was using my 11 multiplier and got a max FSB of 237 prime95 stable. This puts me at 2.61 which is great, but I feel I can go higher. I am gonna try to lower my multiplier tomorrow to 10 and give it a shot to see how high I can get the fsb/oc. Curious to see what your take is on the RAM timings. Thanks

to be honest i picked something just to try the 1:1 and see how it ran.. its running perfect and i get over 7k on sandra.. memory test.. so im happy but its not that lax.. i havent messed with it because finally i can just play my games and not have to worry about it... i probably can run a little tighter.. but i dont wanna keep trying to mess with stuff specially when its running so well... yeah and u having that extra multiplier will help alot.. i was gonna get the 3000 first before i bought this.. but im glad i got this instead... plus i get 71k in aquamark so im pretty happy... but yeah just because i dont wanna tweak anymore... im happy with how its running.. maybe real soon ill play with some other try to tighten it up

Well i gtg to bed... so feel free to respond and ill talk about it more tomorrow... but i had a question maybe u could help.... ravenshield has a problem with a64's or my video card who knows.. its not the oc becase i tried it without it being oc';ed and gave me same error.. its the general protection fault.. didnt know if anyone here plays ravenshield has a fix or what.. but even had my buddy try it without it oc'ed and on a amd xp i believe and it still crashed... he has same video card also 6800gt and same psu also the ultra x connect.. so were thinking its a programming error on ravenshield part or a driver conflict..

don't play ravenshield, only HL2,Doom3, Pacific Assault, Battle for middle earth, and Sid Miers Pirates.

To get past my current cpu max, I will have to tune my HTT down to 3x, as to get the same fsb/mult ratio past 2.6 will clock my memory past 1050 mhz. I am still confused about the damn Ram clock timings though......

yea i help him with the OC it didnt like 2-2-2 would have had to raise the vdimm and he didnt want to mess with that yet

and yea Ravenshield has hmm >.> issus it BSODs on quit odd....

but on the CPU it looks like 2.55 is were his core tops out with out going over 1.55 vcore i can see 2.6 working at 1.60 and 3x HTT

yea he got 71+ in aquamark hehe its a very nice rig

it just bitch slaps my 754 A64 3000+ OCed 2.2 lol

he sent me a pic of the aquamark O.O

What reason is that? Via chipset sucks. AFAIK no motherboard can go over 260FSB. then 3/5 of them don't even have locks properly working.

The poster above has noforce 3 ultra chipset.

The retail HSF is just fine. Don't listen to otherwise. Before I cut mine up I was hitting 2600 with it...duvie hit 2700 with it...all from 1800mhz.

Retail at mwave is cheaper than OEM other places so what you got to loose?

Is the retail HSF solution beefy enough to be quiet or would I have to invest in a 7000/7700 cooler to keep quiet while overclocking?

7000/7700... course those two arn't my idea of quiet either... thermalright xp120 and nexus 120mm at ~6.2 volts is basically silent.

I decided I will go mwave retail chip(no brainer for the warrranty)with a A64 3200 for the 10x multiplier vs the 9x on the 3000+...only question now is whether I get the OCZ pc3200 plat rev2 ram and a XP-90

of course if I get the ram..then maybe I should get a retail 3000+...jeez it just gets tougher

mwaves retail prices are much better tha neven monarchcomputers

is the retail hsf fan pretty loud on the A64...I just hate fan noise...I was looking at XP-90 with Panaflo 92mm L1A as per slilentpc review

its nice a question of if I can oc it more it is I know i can.. it posted at 2.6 perfectly fine.. i havent touched the memory voltage nor have i even attempted to move the cpu voltage past 1.525... im a little worried since this rig cost alot.. and im running so many good scores and all my games at high res im really not worried about pushing it any farther.. BUT.. like i said i can post at 2.6 fine.. but it crashes prime95.. i actually ran games at 2.6 but ravenshile dwas messing up so i thought it was the oc'ing so i brought it down but me and elios later found out it was ravenshield itself.. so idk.. right now its prime stable for 13 hours plus... and still going.. so ill let u know how that goes.. but i dont wanna push the memory voltage specially since im running at 1:1 at 255... any other questions????

You're wrong, I have my AV8 running perfectly fine at 267FSB with no errors in memtest after 8 or so passes.

I got 2.5 stable and it posted 2.65 and ran 3dmark01 for about 1/2 hour before it failed. 3200, Epox mobo (its dirt cheap and awesome) with old OCZ 3500 ram (made it to 240). I figure I'll try 2.55 in a few hours and see how that goes. all with stock volts. (1.3 vcore, 2.6 vdimm, 1.6 chipset, 1.5agp)

I got 2.5 with stock HSF no problem. Running 37C

go cheap ram, any 3200 from a decent brand should do fine.

Also my retail fan is absolutely silent, I can hear my old HP down the hall over my computer.

going with cheap ram will work but u will run into one problem, u wont beable to run the 1:1 and plus u will probably get high latency ram to begin with... so it may be slow... but I just think spending the few extra bucks to give u a definite is alot better... when they did the oc tests... some failed below 250 1:1... so thats something to think about.
