Sigh....how many times are we gonna have to say this. You have an Athlon XP 3000+. The 3000 is just a Performance Rating...it does NOT run at 3 ghz. The 3000+ runs at 2.2 ghz on a 333 fsb. That's normal.

That horrible, horrible video card is entirely to blame.

Somethings amiss, RMA everything and get a Dell, you won't have this problem.

BTW whats a "Gigabyte Compatiable M/Brd" so you have an Asus or Abit M/Brd?

I think you mis-understand the whole MHZ and CPU naming thing... AMD 3200+ runs at 2.2ghz. But AMD 2.2ghz isn't the same as Intel 2.2ghz. Just compare the benchmarks in the many cpu reviews on the net and you'll see. The naming thing is all about marketing.

Also, as others pointed out, that ATI Radeon 7000 video card isn't going to handle any of the new games on the market.

So far it sounds like you are kinda new to the whole computer thing. I suggest you NOT get into overclocking until you get more experience, otherwise you might just fry some of your stuff and be even more frustrated.

Dude, a Radeon 7000 is nothing but a 2d card.
I had one in my PC at work... it was utterly useless.

there might be a lot of dust inside of the computer, open it up and clean everything off with one of those swiffer static rags, it will run a lot faster.

You should get an Intel, I mean their processors are clocked higher, so they must be faster, right? WRONG! GET A DELL!

One more time for effect since this question was THOROUGHLY answered 3 days ago.

BUY A NEW V-I-D-E-O C-A-R-D. Radeon 9600pro would be a minimum level of performance if you are buying a new card; like this one at newegg.com:

"Somethings amiss, RMA everything and get a Dell, you won't have this problem."

"Get something to overclock it and overclock until you start to see smoke. Smoke = speed."

"there might be a lot of dust inside of the computer, open it up and clean everything off with one of those swiffer static rags, it will run a lot faster."

"You should get an Intel, I mean their processors are clocked higher, so they must be faster, right? WRONG! GET A DELL! "

- Sadists! You're all sadists, guys. I'm soo disappointed.

Those suggesting 9600pro and 9600xt have said it's the low end for "that rig". That's quite right!
Get a R9800pro 128MB or FX5900XT instead. More reasonable balanced with that CPU.

(R7000! OMG, where did you get that and why did you put it into that PC? :Q )

LOL at this thread.

Intel and AMD chips are different, AMD's number scheme is based on Intel.

And get rid of that crappy card please.

No it is not. AMD's number scheme is based totally on their own design with 0% reference to Intel.

But ur right on the second part, he insulted his computer by putting in that 7000
