The current head of homeland security (napolitano, appointed by obama) warns about "right wing" and "veterans" as potential terrorists... like piracy, the "enemy" it "targets" is a straw man, the idea is to spy on people who think they have nothing to hide, not on criminals.

Please keep the P&N conspiracies over in P&N where they belong.

how can it be a conspiracy if it is done in the open? for some balance, bush and the republicans have their "patriot act" which is also about spying on american citizens, so both parties have demonstrated their will and desire to openly spy on american citizens. I only pointed out napolitano because its recent news.

The bottom line is, packet inspection has nothing to do with terrorists.

In the strictest sense I believe most known encryption standards are broken from the beginning. They're merely working because decryption takes too much time. AFAIK correctly implemented encryption via one time pads is the only de facto unbreakable encryption algorithm. Just wondering if this is correct?

The 6-core Istanbul might be competitive price-performance wise with the 4 core Nehalem EP. Top performance is still going to be Nehalem EP however. And in another few months, we'll see Nehalem EX, which is a 8 core beast.
