Wow, even the number 3 card has 16GB VRAM and is faster than the 2080TI. And the $1000 6900XT matches the $1500 3090 in performance.

The 3000 parts don't look so hot now.

Post reviews edit:
It's astonishing what AMD have managed to achieve with both the Ryzen 5000 and the Radeon 6000, especially given the absolutely minuscule R&D budget and resources compared to nVidia/Intel. Lisa Su is definitely the "Steve Jobs" of AMD with such a remarkable turnaround.

6900XT:
(It's absolutely amazing to see AMD compete with the 3090)

Sadly, my GTX 1070 / i6700k system gets to hang around a bit longer, as I can't actually buy new graphics cards or new 5900x. Tried and failed on getting a 6800XT today. Although at this point I'd settle for a 5600x and/or underclocked 3080 if I could find them either...

Was happy to see the very low noise fans on the reference 6800XT. Not at all happy on having to wait until the moment of release to see reviews - by which time all cards were sold out.

It blows my mind that anyone thought AMD's availability on launch was going to be anything but absolute crap. For the last several months we've been discussing

1) AMD makes way more money selling a tiny ZEN 3 die than it does a massive RDNA2 die.
2) AMD has an obligation to deliver both PS5 & XBX SOCs to their respective customers before basically anything else happens.
3) Pandemic driving up demand like mad on basically any sort of home entertainment product (2nd lockdown is *not* going to help this situation).
4) NVIDIA pooped the bed with their own supply, potentially increasing the number of consumers looking to pick up a competitive AMD die.
5) AMD does not traditionally sell direct to customers and tends to feed its board partners.
6) Everything AMD makes is limited by the number of waffers they were able to order from TSMC.

I can keep going but Jesus seriously people, the mantra around here for a while has been "just write off hardware until Q2 2021" so its a little surprising to see so many people acting disappointed about the lack of supply at launch.

Mmm... In the end it comes down to what features you value. Performance is quite similar all in all as long as it has nothing to do with ray tracing.

Not sure what to do... Maybe I'll just buy something that gives decent enough upgrade for 1440p gaming and the switch to next gen to dog at launch.

After looking at a few reviews, the 3080 is still the superior product at resolutions a normal person would use, assuming the 10gb of ram doesn't come back and bite you. Only if they had made it 12gb from the start...

yeppers. While I don't have the absolute need for anything like this right now, so not desperate for stock, I was still only thinking that I would turn back around in February-April or so to then see what the situation was with this stuff. ....after I do my taxes, and spend all the money I need to on house for the year, etc...

Knowing that availability would be crap, it's easy enough to tell my brain to wait until next Q or two.

Alright Anandtech, you can stop screwing around now and launch a review/deep dive of the NV 3xxx series and RX6xxx series.

Haha ok we'll stop making gtx 960 jokes.

No seriously AT the joke got old and it's not funny anymore.

it would be quite corking to see a random bar for gtx 960 randomly pop into the current benchmarks, wouldn't it? Just, sitting right there for some reason. Never mentioned in the article at all. Just...there it is, in all the charts...

There is just so much this now applies to - almost all of the 'launches' are imaginary where supply is such that it takes lottery to get anything
- Nvidia 3000 series
- Zen 3
- PS5 and XBOX X
- AMD 6000

has there been anything in the last 2 month that actually launched?

Apple managed a few big things Their demand might not be behaving in quite the same way though.

i heard , I think i replied in a different thread that with closed garden becoming even more closed there is even less reason for people like me to consider them. they overcharge you on hardware , on software, spy on you AND can not run what i can get from any other off the shelf hardware (gaming). may be there is a reason there is not as much demand for their things other than people who want status symbols...

Ray Tracing Watch Dogs was not performing too bad on 6800Xt then it turns out, there was less reflections on AMD HW:

4k is a cursed resolution...
Ampere doubled FP32, massive bandwidth... not very impressive results

rdna2 doubled everything, plus 0.5Ghz on top... reee.. even worse

Not being able to snag a 6800XT this morning kind of makes me think a full system upgrade next year; hopefully the 5000 series CPU's get restocked and somewhat discounted by then as well.

I think I've gotten a pretty good run out of my first gen board come Feb/March 2021; my current setup, although getting long in the tooth now, will run some of these upcoming titles just fine. I still won't have ray trace, but you know what I still won't have a Lamborghini SV either.

So avg gaming power usage one site said the difference between the 3080 VS the 6800XT was a delta of ~100w in favor of the 6800XT using less wattage. This is an average between the benchmarks they put it through. How are the other sites reporting the power usage difference?
