What's 'so-so' about cheap H81/B85 mobos?

Usage is still same. Just bit more gaming like once a week or so. Battlefield and crysis..

Budget would be around 200to 250$

Limited features compared to higher spec boards, Fewer SATA3 ports, fewer memory slots, fewer USB3, some don't even offer HDMI, lack of RAID chipset, etc
Pairing a fairly potent CPU such as i5 with a H81 is not ideal.
Uh oh....gaming lol. Drives up the specs for your build, particularly those two games. Do you live near a microcenter? If so, for around $250.- you can get a 4690k and a z97 mobo. Pretty much anihilates any task you may want to throw at it now, and in the forseeable future.
there is enough of everything.
people buying $50 MBs probably don't care about more than 2 sata III, raid or usb3.0
also 2 memory slots is enough for 8GB or 16GB, which also what most people use...
H81 board (or b85) is fine with a core i5, it's a good combination for good performance/$
People buying $170+ CPUs usually don't match it with $50 mb. Makes no sense really
Which board will have maximum sata ports. I would take that. Currently i am using 6 ports and have none to add up hdd.
Why so condescending? Who said anything close to that? Take a chill pill dudeyour programs don't run faster because of how many ports are left empty
it makes no sense to pay for additional features if you are not going to use them
:biggrin:Which board will have maximum sata ports. I would take that.
