It not generally their job to tell you how to mod them.
Mind you it was a reviewer, Wizzard at TPU, that told everyone how to do it.
Pretty sure all the manufacturers will tell you to promptly diaf if you return the card to them. ^_^
It's considered illegit for a reason. Otherwise, why would ANY reviewer say, "Hey, go out and grab a pair of 6970s. No wait, don't! Just buy some 2GB 6950s, then do the BIOS mod and you'll have 6970s for cheaper! DO THAT. I APPROVE OF THE METHOD."

You don't see AnandTech (At least from what I've noticed) saying to buy 2GB 6950s and unlock them into 6970s though. Big time reviewers.

Honestly when Bulldozer comes up short, and AMD is purchased by somebody else or restructured...I will not feel bad.

Just because someone says something that you don't agree with doesn't make it marketing.
I genuinely believe that the 6990 is a better card than the 590, I also think the gtx580 is a better card than the 6970.

Do you mean that AMD could do better with their cooling?
I think this has been true for a while. Nvidia make better coolers and have for a while.
Yes...maybe NV make better coolers because they had to with their bigger dies?
Oh, come on? Really? Is that the stance you're going to take. Have you forgotten the last couple of years around here. Judging by your join date, I don't think so. I've visited this forum for many years before joining, so I'm well aware of what took place without naming it in detail.
So, you don't like the posting style of certain people and for that, you automatically lump that in with AMD marketing. Give me a break. Also, the NV witch hunt is a little far fetched, because from what I've witnessed it was well founded. Groove isn't affiliated with AMD.
I know a lot of Nvidia fans around here and they are genuine enthusiats and very good people. In fact, I was mistaken about them. Nobody should feel that they will be shunned for liking a particular vendor. That's what makes all this so interesting. Ya, Groove's style may be a little heavy handed, but it's not marketing PR. AMD didn't hire him. He just has an opinion that you simply don't agree with. So, don't throw everyone into the same bucket and stop being a martyr about it all the time.
And what do you think happens when people don't agree with my opinion? Honestly, your last few sentences above here state things that you couldn't possibly know. So why bother saying them? Like the ones bolded above. Grooveriding's position is so extreme, that people are starting to doubt he even has Nvidia hardware anywhere near his rig at all. I can't blame them either.
I think everyone should calm down and stop throwing accusations around.
