I'd wait to see what the holiday sales look like Mikey. 7700XT gets down to $399 or less and IMO it's a good buy.
That's pretty much my approach. I have a vanilla 6600, and it serves my purposes for now, but I'm considering bumping my main monitor to a 27" 2k (from a 24" 1080p); if the stars align and the right sales come, I could see getting the monitor and swapping in a 7700XT or 7800XT.

Seems like the rule that you want a computer that costs $2,000 still holds, just prices of components shift:

$400 CPU - 7800x3d
$200 mobo
$200 memory - 64 GB
$500 GPU - 7800 XT
$500 m.2 4 TB PCIe 5
$100 case
$100 PSU
---------
$2,000

(might downgrade to 2 TB)

So I went over my $2,000 budget by $350.

But I just had to get case with a glass panel and a AIB cooler with a display of temperature:

(main reason I went over the budget)

I feel like it's still possible to build a solid gaming machine for ~$1500 with a 7800 XT. However, that may not be possible if you want a fancier case or AIO.
7800x3d is so power efficient that AIO is probably unnecessary.

Other area where a less expensive option would have been sufficient for a budget build:
32 GB of DDR5 instead of 64 GB
1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 M.2 instead of 2 TB of Gen 5
b650 mobo for sub $200 vs. x670e for $300
7700x vs 7800x3d

In fact, Micro Center still sells 7700x + 32 GB of DDR5 free for $317, which IMO would be the best option for a budget build. And maybe upgrade to Zen 5 V-Cache a year later.

Looks like a really nice card.

I was torn between that and the Sapphire Nitro+. I went with the Sapphire, mostly for sentimental reasons (my last few cards have been Sapphire), but I'm sure I would have been happy with the Hellhound.

Now that I think about it, it's funny that with all the AMD/ATI cards I've owned over the years, only my 9700Pro has been from Powercolor.

It's a late comer, but it looks just like the original 7800 XT Hellhound that was released in black. I picked up the black version of the card a little over week ago and it's been great for playing BG3 at ultra settings on a 27" QHD monitor.
Did your Hellhound have the port covers and PCIe protector/cover? Mine came without them. First card I bought NIB that didn't included them in forever. Wondering if it is typical, or because they rushed mine out the door to fill backorders in September.

Another question: Did your card include the Far Cry: Smurfs go Smurf game?

The Hellhound goes with my 5800X3D like peas and carrots. 6900XT performance at 1080&1440, sometimes more or less depending on the game, in both raster and RT. With less power, and a couple of new features. If the Smurfs game has value for you (collective you), it's $450 for the card. Not too shabby at all.

Mine did not have port covers, and no games included. There were no game promotions when I purchased it the first weekend of November.

I've got an i5-12400 and the pairing has been great, at least with the only testing I've really done to-date (BG3 at 1440)
