Given the now-confirmed lack of HDMI 2.0 support on Fury cards, I think we can call Project Quantum DOA.

What the heck was AMD thinking, developing a small form factor gaming system clearly intended to be hooked up to a TV for 4K gaming, and then not including the output type that 99% of 4K TVs require to get full resolution/color/framerate?
Are 4k TVs the better monitors? What latency do they achieve?

Obviously not. When have TV's ever been better than monitors for latency?

They get to around 30 ms. Good enough for TV gaming which is what this is for. 30 ms is on the low end for TV gaming. I think latency is massively overblown for pc gamers when talking about playing on an hdtv.

The point is simple. Why design a box for that is clearly designed for the living room, and then not give it the necessary functions to perform that task? They should have just used 2 gtx 980ti's as at least those have hdmi 2.0. At least then it'd do 60 fps at 4K rather than doing 60 fps and only being able to display 30 due to having hdmi 1.4

Some 2015 model TVs are actually looking good now and I like the future prospect.

Pick 4K.

~20ms input lag on new highend 4K TVs. Thats quite an improvement. I think my Dell 2713HM is around 27ms or something. The same as the mainstream 4K 2015 models.

But before these new TVs, you had to be lucky to get 40ms and could end up with 100ms.

I have one with 100 ms. Lol. I'm super excited for 4k HDTV but on this forum if it isn't sub 3 ms then it's trash lol. Vizio p series is far within my range at this point. It's just the size/price lol at this point I'm about to give up on 4k HDTV. 4k projector is the only thing that will work for me and that's a long wait away lol

I don't know what's more baffling. Amd doing the design, or you taking a design with 1300 in gpu horsepower, a competitor's cpu, etc as a serious product that will be released or we'll get updated on.

Just lol....

Actually the Quantum dissaster never be concieved by now, but with Zen chips... They better to wait until 2016 if they want to release something serious and not this pathetic joke.

It's confirmed. AMD Quantum was only a concept PC and will never hit.the markets.... Those piece of scrap would never meant to exist, like AMD.

Well... RIP AMD. No one will care on you.

I found it funny they claim 60fps at 4k in any game. They forgot to put the star next to that line saying "at reduced detail settings". Even two 980Tis or Fury X isn't enough for every game to max the details at 4k. Though the market they were probably looking at doesn't know detail settings. Then again it said Enthusiasts, who most certainly do or should know.

Thats a good point. It is still hillarious tho that its marketted as a TV room 4K 60hz PC, with HDMI 1.4.

But again, having 2 developers just to manually handle memory allocations for games, so the Fury doesnt crawl when games normally would use more than 4GB says it all.

Wonder how much they plan on using the "optimize games" feature in raptr or whatever it is that installs with the driver suite to optimize them into settings that will do 60fps? I could see NV and AMD doing this more as time goes on, you start a game and the drivers ask if you'd like to apply recommended settings? Probly not a bad deal for the masses in a way, but kinda goofy.

I just don't understand how a company that big can not go buy a 980/ti and run a freakin benchmark or two before spouting off about such. I know marketing and PR and yada yada yada but they(should) still answer to someone. Crazy.

Their Project Quantum concept had a dual fiji XT card. Fury X Crossfire can certainly achieve 60fps in numerous games. There are games where Fury X Crossfire beats the pants off of 980Ti. Their Dual Fiji XT card should have comparable/slightly slower performance.

They might not hit 60fps in any game, but no one else can either when some of the games were developed in a half assed manner. Its time we start holding developers accountable for their terrible programmed/developed/optimized games.

They didn't just say 60fps, they said 60fps at 4k in every game. That's a pretty big distinction. Also no, at max settings(which is what I said) crossfire fury x cannot hit 60fps in every game at 4k. They didn't mention that you may need reduced detail settings to achieve it for some titles.

And at last if they said that Fury X2 would be like that, expecting a big dissaster and the true death of the GPU division.
Since the Skylake iGPU crushes the APUs and Nvidia kills every other Gpu, AMD has nothing to do.

Dont want to go off topic, but Raptor does a *terrible* job of optimizing games. Recently updated my driver, and let raptor install itself by mistake. I have only a HD7770, and can barely get 30fps at 900p in Witcher 3 at all low. Raptor actually set a lot of settings to medium and get this *turned on Hairworks*. An absolutely terrible piece of software(I mean Raptor, but if the shoe fits regarding hairworks, well, yea, that too). I normally keep it turned off but decided to try it again. Needless to say I turned it off ASAP.

Yeah all those game softwares are only good for reminding me when there is a driver update far as I can tell.

And all that at the same or lower prices?
Is the world B/W? Do buyers only judge that hard (all having a perfectionistic trait), that they ignore everything, that is not the absolute best? Come on, you can do better!
