Don't think it is really necassary to get one from their list as long as it is a good one. Don't get a cheap ass power supply or you'll regret it. I had one explode on me. Mushroom cloud and all. I got an Enermaz 350 watt from kdcomputers.com for around $55 and I like it a lot. Highly recommend Enermax.
Do not HAVE to have one ... a lot will depend on how hane other things the powersupply is running, HD's CR's CDR's and so on.
Overtax the power supply and performance will drop, system will become unstable.
while an Amd approved powersupply is not a requirement. It is a good place to start looking when trying to identify quality power supplies although not being on the list does not make it low quality supply either. A good quality power supply is a must for any serious enthusiasts system. It is probably the most overlooked component in a pc. The attitude that if it turns it on it is good enough is dead wrong A crappy power supply will make an otherwise topnotch system into a frustrating collection of drives pcb's and metal. I hear lots of good things about the enermax's. I am using an Antec pp-403x 400 watt myself.
