Combo Deal


This looks like a nice upgrade for those who still are clinging on to s939 (such as myself) for the cheap. The Vista is basically free.
Would the AMD (s939) drop lower than this?
Dunno for sure but its supplies are shrinking fast.

I think it would be better to start over and build a newer machine as opposed to spending $400 even if they throw in Vista. Either the x2 AM2 or C2D.

I kindof agree as well. However, if you happen to have another system that you want to use vista on, then it might be a good deal. I am tempted by this personally as I have a s939 system (the one in the sig) that would get a decent upgrade and I am in the process of building a new C2D system that I would put the Vista OEM on.

Not a bad deal, if you planned to buy vista then it's like getting the CPU for $280. For anyone who's already got 2Gigs of DDR400, and a s939 PCIe motherboard, and a single core CPU this would be a hot upgrade.

Tempting, but I already have a spare x2 3800+ and a 3000+ sitting around while my FX-55 runs my main computer.

Decent deal if you're someone with a lower end 939 processor and want to jump on the dual core bandwagon.

FX-60 has an unlocked multiplier, which can make it easier for overclocking.

My heart says s939's upgrade and my head says E6600.
Can't make up my brain which way to go.
The E6600 definitely is the right way to go but it's gonna cost me much more $$$ ie. mobo, ram.

I'm in the same situation as you. I first wanted to do a complete system upgrade, then realized the cost to do a total system revamp - memory, pci-e graphic card, mobo etc etc.
I have decieded to stick with my rock stable s939 system and just upgrade the cpu to a dual core, maybe a opteron 185 if the price falls below 300$
