Check your email, or go to area-64 to enter to win :

If you are successful in this quest, you will be one of the select who will witness firsthand the unveiling of our new technology-and if you are one of the chosen, you will receive unprecedented access to the people who make real what most people can only imagine.

Only 64 people will have the chance to purchase this package, which will include:

The highest performance AMD Athlon? 64 processor, a top-of-the-line NVIDIA nForce3 Pro powered motherboard, and 1GB (2x512MB) of DDR400 memory from Kingston Technology.
Tickets to attend the invitation-only AMD Athlon? 64 Launch Event on Sept. 23, 2003. (For event details, click here.)
The chance to match wits with other believers and earn unprecedented access to the AMD Athlon? 64 processor launch event, the AMD64 technology, and the masterminds behind it. A chosen few will report back to the masses via webcast what in the world is going on.
Round trip airfare for two to San Francisco (departs September 21 and returns September 24, 2003), hotel accommodations, transportation and meals for the two days of the event.

It's true. Starting on September 8, and continuing for 8 days, eight packages per day will be available for the purchase price of $640-less than the cost of the chip alone. But once these 64 are gone, they're gone. You must hurry to stake your claim. Feeling lucky? You could try to instantly win one of 5,000 other prizes by clicking One of the Chosen? from the main menu instead.

Beyond this door are two tasks you must conquer before you can claim your place. But you must wait until the time is right. An e-blast will mysteriously appear each day before the gateway to this bold, new world can be opened. Then, and only then, can you attempt to unlock the mystery and reap the rewards of the new Athlon? 64 processor. Are you ready to begin?

Only major problem I see is that you have to present your credit card in case you win so you have to be serious!

So it means the Athlon 64 will have a price tag greater than $640.... Looks like it will won't be affordable probably until late spring next year.

i'm guessing the $640 processor is the high-end one. the low-end processor is supposed to be a little more than $400

Read the OP. "eight packages per day will be available for the purchase price of $640-less than the cost of the chip alone."

At designated times, you will have the chance to prove yourself worthy to become one of the few to whom AMD64 will be revealed. To unlock this vault, you will be asked to pass two tests.

1. A close encounter of the 64th kind
2. Find the answer

To succeed, you must possess a bit of skill to match a repeating pattern, a little knowledge to answer two technology questions, and a valid credit card to make your final purchase if your bid is successful.

We will email you prior to the next vault opening time. Stay ready-you never know when they'll be coming.

The 64 bit is the answer to the Itanium.
The 64 bit Encounter is like the old Simon game.
Who knows what the questions will be like...
At least this comes with the motherboard and RAM....
Everyday they will open the vault for an hour or so and give away 8 grand prizes. They will do this for 8 days.
There are supposedely a lot of other prizes out there as well.

And yet again, Hoss attempts to spare his wallet and win free stuff... 2 years, several "events", zero wins. The shame and humility of folks right next to him winning... 2-3 processors in their group. But then there's lone Hoss... poor Hoss.

contest, sweepstakes, and other crap is not hot deals. dont post this kind of crap here, all you're doing is clogging the board with more crap. post something useful next time, like a $500 video card that is in stock or something.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought my email said that the $640 gets you processor, m/b, RAM, tickets to the announcement ceremony and round trip airline tickets and accomodations.......
