jpeyton,

I have been reading through your Overclocking Results and I have a question that I would like u to help me out on...

I would like to OC my RAM to DDR 600 (not CPU)but I have no idea at all how to tune the Votage, CAS timing etc... ! Will u plx teach me how to do it ?

I am using 4400= X2 / MSI K8N Neo4 Plat / 512 x 4 Geil One Series DDR 400(1.5) / DDR 600 (2.5-7-2-2) / PS 500W / ATI Radeon X850XT / Costom Zalman Water for CPU+GPU

plx help me out on this *_*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks man!

Thought it would be nice to share my results too with you guys and ask a question.

DFI Lan Party SLI-DR
4400+@2.7 (10x270)
Mushkin 3500 @ 5/6 (225 @2-2-2-5)
Vcore 1.55V
Load temps<60C

I'm in a dillemma here. If I raise my cpu to 2.8 my ram will cause me issues running @233 and 2-2-2-5.

Considering that I have BH5 what do you suggest to do with the ram?

Hmm, possibilities ...
1) increasing your memory voltage
2) loose up the memory timings
3) use a different cpu multiplier (say... 11*255 and u can even use a 9/10 divider)

Hi Everyone,

First of all, let me thanks all posters I have benefited from. This is very educational, though, I admit to being a bit lost.

I've set up my first machine last month.

AMD A64 4400+
Asus A8n-SLI Premium
2 Dual Corsair CMX512-3200 XL (4x512 Mo) in 2-2-2-5
Antec P180.
Rest is probably not important.

To the point of my message. I seem to suck big time in OC my unit, though from I've read, people with similar setup have fantastic result.

I've started taking notes. Right now my working configuration is :

CPU 210 Mhz
PCIex 100 Mhz
DDR Volt 2.65 V
Chipset V 1.50 V
HT Volt 1.20 V
Coeff CPU x10
CPU Volt 1.4125

On CPU-Z, that's a mere 2100.5 Mhz... POuahh.... I did manage to get higher, I think it was up to 235 on the CPU with I finally noticed that my memory were back to 2.5. They're supposed to run on 2-2-2-5 at 400 Mhz and I've set up them up that way. Strangely enough, I've really had the the feeling they were the ones screwing up my possibilities.

In advance, I apologize for asking for help, rather than contributing, perhaps a bit later, when I get the hang of it.

THANKS TO ALL.

leritz, Welcome to the forums ! Also, Put some volts to that CPU ! 1.5v

As to next OC, my second X2 3800 is only at 2500 @ 1.5v currently only 38c load ! and thats not stable for sure, locked up 2 days ago. This box runs 2xF@H 24/7. My other 3800 and my 4400 both run 2550 stable at 1.475v ~48c at the moment. The new one might be a manchester core though, I think it ended in BV, have to find the pic later.

Ok, what I've gathered, seems my ram is screwing up the whole process.

With 2.5-3-3-5, I'm up to 2500 Mhz with no problem.
On Bios,

CPU Voltage is 1.4375 V
DDR Voltage is 2.65 V
Chipset Voltage is 1.50 V
HT Voltage is 1.250 (what's that by the way ?)
Coeff CPU is 10.

Haven't tried to go higher yet. But as soon as I try to bring my ram to 2-2-2-5 (rated by Corsair) the system doesn't boot.

After 2 hours, I'm still running 37°C on CPU and 34°C on motherboard.

Any ideas how to bring my memory on par ?

Thanks !

(Asus A8N-SLI premium, Antec P180 with 3 included fans, Noiseblocker SE4 Blue CPU Fan, Thermalright XP-90C, 2 drives in Raid stripping)

Just got my Zalman CNPS9500 figured out...
X2 4400+

1.39 Volts
2.52 GHz
31 Idle, 42 Load

Priming as we speak. If it makes it tonight I'll be content (I think) until it's time for me to upgrade

Great thread with lots of hints. Just built my first AMD system a week ago after many years of Intel. Couldn't overclock past 225 fsb until I'd learned enough about AMD-style oc'ing.

Now I'm at 238 fsb, 2618 MHz, w/ sb/nb @ 4x, vcore @ 1.4, mem at 1:1, temps 41 i / 45 load - prime stable. I know you guys would push it to 1.5v, but I'm not wanting to go that far yet. Couldn't get to 240 fsb even with vcore @ 1.45.

Thanks for all the tips, guys!!
