Edit: Actually, if the specs are accurate, that's a very modern Slot-A CPU, it has on-die L2. Cool! That should be comparable in performance to my XP CPU running at a similar clock rate, I would expect.

I've got the classic 700 and I use a Gigabyte board (GA-7IXE) and it doesn't support Thunderbird cpu's.
