Anyone know of any good reviews? I don't see any reports on AMD Athlon Neo processors anywhere except from about 6 months ago and maybe older.

I haven't seen any reviews for it yet either, however, I did put hands on a Gateway AMD Neo powered machine at Best Buy a few months ago and it was MUCH snappier than the Atom powered netbooks, even with several MS Office applications and browser windows open.

Its still 65nm based though, not sure why AMD hasn't launched a 45nm version. Production capacity? Excess stock of 65nm Lima cores they need to get rid of?

AMD Neo should be better than an ATOM but worse than a c2d of same speed. i'm going to guess amd neo and intel culv processors will be about the same in terms of performance. culv will probably have an edge in battery life though

I'd like to see some good benches and reviews of the C2D CULV based systems and the Neo based systems. I think the CULV's, being 45nm and Core 2 based, will probably have a considerable advantage in power. Given that the Core 2s were also faster than the A64s clock for clock, they might also have an edge in performance too.

I have an HP DV2 with the MV-40 and it's perfectly fine with vista. I do have 4gb of ram in it though so that might help but for web browsing, Word, Excel, WoW, UT2004 it works reasonably well. What you have to understand is that even the lower end modern cpu is much faster compared to the needs of current "mainstream software" compared to how things were 5 or 10 years ago. Overall it's a cheaper option than a CULV and quite a bit faster than an Atom based machine, and you can get it in system that have more than 1gb of ram and reasonable graphics options.

i, too, own a dv2 and i enjoy the performance. i upgraded from a pentium m dothan 1.6ghz and i would say the neo is on par with it. it does have some problems with HD flash but other than that, it is a great cpu. it runs a little on the warm side though. i haven't undervolted it nor do i.

another thing to note is that for older computer games that are more cpu intensive, it might not be able to max things out. however, i believe it outperforms my dothan in SimCity 4 deluxe. that, coupled with a nice dedicated gpu, enables me to play BF2 and FEAR on my laptop, something i never thought i would be doing. (lol intel extreme 2 graphics)

in conclusion, i like the neo and recommend it and a relatively strong cpu.

Strange request, but anyone know if the dv2 can run street fighter 4?

Also whats the word on the AMD X2 Neo's... are they significantly more powerful then the MV-40?

Lol, probably not that well, but maybe.

Iirc, SF4 in the arcades ran on a 2.8Ghz Pentium 4 with hyper threading (and actually made use of hyper threading) and a Geforce 6800 Ultra. If the DV2 is equipped with a dual core cpu, it could handle it, but I don't know if a single core will be up to it, not at 60 fps anyhow. And you'll need the 3400 add in graphics to even have a chance of running the game graphically, the 3400 should about match a 6800Ultra in shader performance, but it probably doesn't have the fillrate to run at full resolution.
