Well, I'm both pissed and happy. I shut down my unix box that had been running for 3 months to grab the video card out of it...forgetting that the video card wasn't in it. Then I go grabbed my old ATI Rage 3D II and throw it in the box, boot it up, and she boots into installation flawlessly. I'm gonna get everything installed, and then attempt to flip it back. Oh well, I'm just happy it works now.

Oh, and considering I was using an ATI Rage 128 before it also doesn't make any sense...although I'm beginning to expect that now. I have a geforce2 gts-v coming so hopefully I won't have any problems with that.

For those of you that already have this system up and running, are you sure it is running at 1.47 ghz ? The mobo manual says it only supports up to 1.33 ghz. Misprint or am I missing something?

I was under the assumption that when the motherboard manual was printed, 1.33 ghz was the top of the line processor and nothing faster existed. I could be wrong.

Mine's running at the 1.467 it says Athlon XP 1700 when it boots up. I jumped the bus speed and even got it to boot at 1900+....so it does work.

Yeah, but their description said has. So, all you need to do is to pretend you like the onboard video and was cheated.
Or, saying buy a video card is out of you plan and they should be responsible for that blahblah.....
>>

could it just be me or do i still not see the on board video card on the description?

They corrected it already I think. might be hundreds of people took advantage if it.
the manager said he didn't believe me really didn't know there's no onboard video... and he also said they lost money on this deal.

By the way, I got the 1600+ CPU and this bady is running perfect in winXP already. Only thing I am concerning, the CPU is 42-43C right now. How about you guys if you use their case and thermal? maybe I didn't mount it perfectly?
And, the case is little noisy.

Big - My CPU is also running around 42-43C.

I pulled the pink stuff off the heatsink and put some compound on it. Win2K installed without a hitch.

Performance is very good so far. $199 - Good deal.

Well, any AGP card will not boot into XP, hopefully my GeForce will when I get it. My processor is also running at about 40 or so...seems a bit hot....but that's with artic silver II and a non-metallic shim...so who knows what is up....I'm kind of ticked by any AGP card not working...anybody else have any problems with that..or let me know what settings are working for you? Anyhow....

Well, just jumped the bus speed all the way up...and she still runs great...boots fine and everything, so I have the equiv of a 1900+...and it still runs at the same temperature...you can't beat that. Now to get the AGP port working.

First post here. BIG Thanks to CiscoGuy for this deal and others here posting some incredibly hot deals.

I got this system on Wednesday this week via Airborne. It's working out great so far - no problems whatsoever. I've configured it this way:

768MB DDR 2100 (256 from Crucial, 512 from Fry's this afternoon - $119 in DFW! - another posted deal here)
40MB Maxtor 7200RPM ATA133
Geforce3 Ti200 (waiting on outcome of BB thing on Ge4)
Old Creative Encore DVD/CD drive
Case Fan
Standard AMD heatsink/fan
Netgear PCI network card
Onboard audio
Win XP Pro

If anyone needs any help - I know this isn't necessarily the place for it, but I've been up & running since 1/2 hr. after I got the package with no problems. My CPU temp stays around 41-42C under load, and system temp hovers around 37 under load. I think both are good, but I'm coming from a PII-333! (long time in coming for this upgrade)

RedSox: I'm in the same boat as you (I have a PII 350). Did you have any troubles with the system? I'm debating whether to go with it ... or do buy parts separately (so i can get an Epox 8KHA+ and a better case). Do you like the case??

Vancenase:

I love the system. The stock kit is probably going to be just fine - I'm not going to overclock, so the case will be fine and the temps seem about right. The case is just a standard mini-tower, but I like the design. You'll need to buy a fan for it if you decide on the barebones kit - the kit only comes with the heatsink/fan for the processor.

Not one hiccup of any kind so far.

Jened - It's all put together. The MB is mounted. Just put in the chip and fan, add your HD and floppy. Plug in your mouse, monitor and keyboard and you are set.

Took me about 10 minutes. Pull off the pink stuff on the heatsink and add some heatsink compound.

I also added a case fan that I had around and installed Win2k.

Runs without a hitch. I'm pleased with the deal.

clay82 - I stand corrected. The box comes with nothing, except the power supply. You must add everything (OS, Mouse KB, Video card, memory, HD, lan card, CD, floppy, and a case fan, I think that's it). This is a bare bare-bones.

Luckily I had most of those things sitting around.

Ugggh,
I've spent last night and today on it with countless reinstallations --> zero.
I've tried windows 2000 and Win 98
Tried each on 2 different HD (Maxtor and WD)
only thing in is a hard drive, DVD drive, and a video card (tried ATI 7200 AGP, and ATI rage PCI slot)
They all crash during installation.
gives me "system dump" messages

I'm not overclocking, all set to auto.
everything else seems to work fine up until it crashes a few minutes in the install.

Any suggestions?
(please)

CGott:

Are you using DDR2100 memory? I had a tiny bit of trouble right after putting it together, but got it resolved easily.

Make sure you're registering as an XP1700+ in the BIOS upon boot. If not, open your case and locate the FJ1 jumper. Set 1 to on - leave the rest off. That might be causing your memory dumps on the OS installs.

Just a thought.

I have DDR 2100 memory (512 MB)
and actually I have the XP 1800+ and I set the FJ1 jumper to 1 on , rest off.
any other thoughts you seem to know this well.
