>>This processor is $90 shipped from TWCS. <<

I just went to tcwo.com and it lists the Athlon XP 1800+ Retail Box as $106. Add $55 for the mobo and you get $160+. Also, Fry's offers a 15-day return policy while tcwo clearly states no returns on opened retail box cpu's.

Your company ought to try making money instead of maney, it spends a lot better...

Uh here you go Junior: linkie

I think he was talking about the OEM (yeah I know the deal is for the retail).
The TCWO warrenty sucks (20 days from when they ship it out to you), but I have had problems in the past and their CSR's have been very understanding and in some cases extended the warrenty period.

Anyhow I would rather jump on the Fry's deals though. Just make sure you don't get any recycled (AKA open box) components. Doesn't seem like it's in So Cal though.

Good deal!! I spent $128 on the same board + a 1600+ from Newegg. Still gotta love Newegg, though.

I got this from Sunnyvale on Sunday. Very nice. Best part is that I could use my PC133 memory as there are slots for it. Not sure if I will upgrade to DDR later. Is the performance benefit over 20% from DDR?
I never heard of this mobo, but it's pretty good. I am using my SB live instead of onboard sound (because of the digital output), but the ethernet adapter works fine.
Win 98 booted just fine, but XP wouldn't boot (BSOD) until I reinstalled it. I think MS might be playing copy protection games.
Also picked up 128 mb compact flash $39.95 at same time for my DC4800.
Some good deals at fry's recently.

A while back there was talk of Fry's opening in Chicago. Anyone know if, and when this is happening?

I picked up this combo from Fry's a few days ago and the mobo seems to be a little picky with ram.

When I try to boot up with a 256 ddr stick of Fry's generic ram, the board refuses to boot. The screen won't come on at all. However, if I boot up with a 256 ddr stick of crucial ram, everything works fine.

Just a heads up for you guys just in case anyone was running into problems.

Just set one up today. Couldn't get it to work. The power supply fan wouldn't even turn, until I changed the JP1 jumper for the Keyboard Power On Selector. I set it to enable and it started right up.I disabled Keyboard on in the bios.
Also the PFD users guide HERE has a better discription on the case components connections.

Yes and no, but in any case (no pun intended) I wouldn't want anyone to have to learn this the hard way if it can be avoided.

Of course it can't be avoided because there always the cases when things work out great. So... what can you do?

If you'd like me to rant about this just let me know otherwise I'm going to go study my spelling and grammar (gees bigEd take it easy ).

If u think that is good, there was a recent bay area frys sale for a AMD ATHLON 1800 + (boxed) and FIC AN11 stealth kt266a raid for $139!!! It was a lil more than 2 weeks ago and that is a steal. Considering the mobo is a kt266a with raid, black color, and the overclocking is a little better than that on the ecs.
