AMD/ATI HD5850 overscan issues

Well I got my HD5850 running now with 3 monitors, but I am having some "slight" issues with my 37" HDTV.

I have 2 monitors running on Display port and DVI, and my HDTV hooked up via HDMI. For whatever reason I need to use overscan in the ATI control center in order to fill out the display on the TV, and it looks and works just fine, but evertime I restart my computer I receive an error message because MOM.EXE has crashed. I tried a few things, one solution was to disable CCC from starting on startup and then to just run the CCC after Windows loaded then close the window, but after doing some searching I found the best solution was just to downgrade to a previous version, and 10.5 was suggested.

Anyways, does anyone else have issues with HDTVs, overscan, and ATI's CCC? If so have you found a more current stable release that fixes the problem?

I did notice that with 10.9 performance was much better while playing games and watching HD content, but with 10.5 I don't have to deal with the error messages.

It appears your Mom.exe has a virus or possibly a trojan deep inside the storage system. Definitely get that checked out.

A quick painless fix could be to just make a .bat file to run the CCC, then run the .bat on startup.
*Edit*

Also the /min command would be pretty useful. I'm not at my house so I don't know what the CCC executable is called, but an example .bat would be

start /min ccc.exe

To help with getting the resolution tuned correctly with HDTVs use a setting which switches the resolution to "full" or similar on the TV instead of "auto". That way you wont have to set up custom res and have it look crappy.

I was thinking of doing a fix like this, and looks like this is what I'll have to do. Running 10.5 I still have to start the CCC manually for some reason in order to get the colors to display correctly, but at least now it starts up with the screen displaying at the correct size.

I've read on a few forums that ATI CCC and HDTVs have had some issues since January.

At the moment not using any custom resolutions, I'm just using overscan to fill out the picture on the TV so there are no black bars around it. If I use my TV's "full" setting, the picture fills out the monitors but the bottoms and sides of the screen are cropped away.

Well running 10.9 now and basically doing as Ben90 suggested

I just placed a shortcut to CCC in my startup folder then made a bat file to close the window 20 seconds after startup

Edit: Should also add that I also had to disable the CCC from start up (Start-Run: MSCONFIG) as it was causing MOM.exe to crash

Code:
[B]CCC.exe location[/B]
C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static\CCC.exe

[B]Startup folder location (Windows 7)[/B]
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Code:
[B]Bat File [/B]
[I](Note: Timeout in seconds, I'm running Windows off a SSD
so you might want to increase this number if you're using a HDD)[/I]

[B]Save as 'Kill CCC.bat' and also place in Startup folder[/B]
TIMEOUT 20
taskkill /IM CCC.exe

After this I also had to change the color settings in CCC, I am using a Westinghouse 37" TV

Hue: -5
Saturation: 110
Brightness: -20
Contrast 90

OP, this is a known issue with the 10.9s, it will be fixed in 10.10.
Using 10.5 is fine until then, many people prefer those over all the releases, but that's mostly dual GPU (X2 cards or Crossfire) people. For single GPUs, I use the 10.7s personally, they will retain your settings on reboot as well and give you VLC GPU acceleration (very cool).
