I hope too it comes out soon,,,I have a 980x @ 4GHz but I am all for competition and low prices,,,god bless. I may or may not upgrade, still waiting for reviews,, not sure when the next gen is coming out, may go SB-E or Bulldozer or just wait for later., TY GN and GL all god bless

Oh my goodness you def shouldn't upgrade. That 980x is a beast. Your not going to see any difference going from that to a bulldozer imo.

Plus don't you have 6 logical and 6 physical cores. thats 12 cores if you use the right app HT 64bit apps, Sonar X1 , Vegas, Premiere, Photoshop all 64 bit apps and optimized for multithread.

Man you don't need a upgrade for years and years. Enjoy your 980 and save your money. One day when a break through CPU comes to fore front then you can upgrade. Im talking 16 core desktop CPU's etc..ty

I really hope some of the reviews cover whether unlocking works or not. Although, given the rumored terrible yields @ 32nm, who knows if those cores would actually work or not...

Still using DOS based inventory software? In this day and age, its not un-common to see those actually (came across quite a number, mostly based on dBase/FoxBase and Clipper engines). Anyway, thanks for the prices and they do seem lower than what I've been seeing and hearing before.

It may be possible but judging by the delays I doubt you'll have good success.

One of those bad boys will have a home waiting for them right here.

I thought those were yellow!!

btw, I don't have any solid proof, but just from seeing cryptic posts by established users who would know, I agree that Oct 12 is probably the day or very close to it. The real question is, will anybody on the consumer side notice/care?

Probably will care more about Intel's reaction or lack thereof pricing-wise

I only started thinking about it after seeing bulldozer core unlocking mentioned here:

http://www.tweak.dk/nyheder2.php?id...I_support_on_upcoming_AMD_9-Series_mainboards

I would only expect to unlock an extra 1 or 2 modules. It would be crazy to see 5 or 7 core unlocked 4100s :hmm:

I believe the modules are only able to be turned on/off, and not the individual cores.

It wouldn't really be efficient to have one of the integer cores off, since there would be quite a bit of extra hardware in the front end and the FPU wouldn't get used except during AVX instructions.

They are very tightly coupled cores.

Haha, at my office we just upgraded from ADP (old skule edition) to ADP drive. Drive has tons of new/cool features, it's very easy to use, etc etc etc. And we all just use the legacy dos apps instead.

Hehehe. Aside from being really ugly, it's actually super smart for Fry's to use the Dos POS/Inventory app. For one thing it's unbelievably stable, and the 2nd thing is that they can use whatever pile of crap is lying around to run it with no problems at all.

Isn't ADP for vehicle dealers? Anyways, I could see how using a lot more advanced features with that would be helpful.

It's not really that helpful unless you're in the accounting office. And yes, it's a car dealer. Our dos program is almost identical to the one that I first started using 15 + years ago, I can use it much faster than the newer system just b/c I'm so familiar with it.

QTY 1? Really why even go through the trouble to order or ship just one piece? It will probably be bought by an employee.

Your kidding right? Gamers should avoid BD like the plague.

That's easy to say if you're willing to spend $200 on a cpu, or willing to spend $38 in gas to save $50 on a Micro Center sale. But if all you got is $150 to spend on a cpu then you are very interested in how the quad BD stacks up against other AM3+ chips. If it is really that bad then the 4100 should drop to under $100 in a couple months.
