I agree. My Intel P4C (Northwood) stock cooler came with a 40mm fan - pretty damn small if you ask me.
The *noise* wasn't bothering me - it was the
pitch of the noise that was seriously pissing me off. It sounded like a teacher scratching the chalkboard - really high pitched.
If it had a more masculine grunt, I woudln't have minded - as my computer is generally on load when I play games, and the speakers drone out the sound... but the high pitched noise cut through ths speaker noise, so I ended up getting a 7700-AlCu. Good stuff.
