They finally managed to get Sandy performance at this moment, so definately Bulldozer finally became useful this time.

1992 in 3DMark @ 15W? That's only a few points off what my A10-7700k with clockspeeds locked down to stock settings (no turbo, no iGPU boost). Wild.

The fanny thing is the 35W TDP FX8800P 3D Mark 11 score is close to 65W TDP Broadwell HD6200 and faster than 95W Kaveri.

My biggest beef with AMD chips for laptops has been how terrible their battery life inevitably was. Even the 17w chips have relatively poor numbers when compared with Haswell, and I will not buy a laptop that goes dead sitting idle for ~4-5 hours. I have an HP laptop with a Haswell Celeron and 51wh battery, and on a good day I can get 12 hours of use out of it, with 8-9 hours being typical.

After reading the Carrizo launch article from the main page, I'm excited. AMD is claiming 8 hours+ of idle battery life, and 5 hours of video playback (up from less than 2 hours). That's competitive! CPU performance is adequate, and GPU performance allows for far more than just Hearthstone and Minecraft. If these same numbers materialize in a reasonably priced machine that makes it to market, AMD can have my money. I'd gladly pay a small premium over a Celeron laptop for the GPU.

Its the 3D Mark 11 (Performance) score.

How do you know that? It's a random chart with no explanation. P could mean "Performance" or P could mean "Physics". Either way, it looks like a good increase for Carrizo.

battery life should be better than current product
if they could match intel's that would be good thing

pricing shouldn't be far off from current position (sit between i3 and i5)

will they have product release that coincide with Windows 10 ?

"P" is always for Performance in 3D Mark.

I believe products will start to launch end of June, early July.

Okey so this is a very very good performing product - but who needs that gpu power in a 15w tdp envelope?

I mean i would like it but how many wants to game on their ultra portable 13.3 machine?

I can say for sure a zen machine with hbm on 14nm gets my money. This carizo sets my expectations high and i just want it now !

I do. 13.3" is the perfect size for me, and I don't want to have a separate machine for both work and light gaming. If AMD's power management is good (and their claims seem to indicate that it will be), the "big" iGPU will not negatively impact battery life when not being used. Nor will it take up significant additional area, necessitating a smaller battery or bigger package.

Me too. Why the focus on >15" for AMD notebook CPUs?

I hope the OEMs don't screw this up by cheaping out and using poor displays, keyboards, trackpads, etc.

Yes, i would actually prefer 35watts to make lite gaming more viable. 15 watts is still going to be pretty mediocre for gaming, and i think you will get better battery life and cpu performance from intel, albeit probably at a higher price. Intel actually seems to be abandoning the quad core, higher tdp laptop market, so it would seem like a good opportunity for amd to move in tbere.
