Looks like there are a lot of 8700P chips floating around right now. Where are the 8800Ps?

According to Digitimes all OEMs are currently busy getting rid of laptops inventories bigger than expected due to the market lack of dynamism.

I'm waiting because they have stock of junk. Life sucks when monkeys are in charge :awe:

One just has to look at Geizhals pricer, HW offering is twice BDW offering..

I will jump to the first 14" 768p FX8800P iGPU ONLY, 2x 4GB 2133MHz i will find.

I also thought so, before i realized that a 14" 4:3 screen is 21.3cm high while a 16:9 is only 17.4cm, that s considerably less and is inadequate for displaying texts that are generaly in A4 format.

With 16:9 it takes a 17" to get back to 21.2cm screen height, no wonder that in H1 2014 69% of the laptops sold in the US were 15"6 with the 17" taking a 12% chunk...

This same 15"6 format is favoured in Europe as well, at some point thoses numbers say that people are not stupid at all, they had to compensate for screens whose versatility was greatly reduced over time while being successfully, and misleadingly, promoted as a progress..

Surely it was one for the panels manufacturers...

An A10-8700P based HP Pavilion got already 6 ratings/4 reviews in Canada with avg. 4.2 pts, objectively ranging from "No good performance" (one 1 star rating) to "the speed is incredible". Those humans..

NewEgg should know a popular tool called Banhammer. Fanboys of determinated brand trying to do spill PR over a competitor product, in a e-commerce, in order to scare away the people from certain product is a ridicule thing. Utter pathetic.

Depends on the TDP. If it is 15 watt, it is pretty good. If it is 35 watts, or even 20 plus, not so much.

Suddenly TDP become an issue..

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-4200U+@+1.60GHz&id=1947

At some point it s clear that some SKUs eagerly eat well above their rated TDPs, so with such numbers how one could use Passmark as a tool for comparisons..??

Or are numbers suspicious only when it s a given brand that get good scores..?.

Other than that some basic configuration from Dell, not as good as HP offering unless i missed something..

Only Carrizo laptop from this brand so far, rest are Carrizo-Ls..

Well, better 10/100 ethernet, than NO ethernet, like this Dell N2830 laptop I'm currently using.

Brutal.

In this day and age, I would expect a 10/100 chipset to be more expensive than GbE - kinda like how DD2 is more expensive than DDR3. I have a USB 3.0/GbE adapter that works very well, so it's not a total deal killer, but it sure seems like a limitation. My other budget notebooks/desktops (some of them are 10 years old) have all had GbE. Maybe not Intel-branded GbE, but even Realtek is better than 10/100.

IIRC this was one of the models used for the early geekbench leaks. So according to some forum members this should be configured to have a 35W TDP...

Quite possible since there s no dGPU, using the same cooling device as those versions they can push the TDP to those levels.

That said they better not send it for review at NBC, this site seems to currently slaughter anything AMD using nebulous methods.
