Ultimately the thread is about Carrizo, not about Intel s shenanigans to hide their power numbers and get the things explained by sales forces.

As said ad nauseam provide official numbers, in the waiting mines are the relevant ones.

26% improvement in CB 11.5 and 13.6% in CB R15, the comparisons you re using are not relevant a all, if you want relevant ones check here :

http://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-HP-Pavilion-17-g054ng-Notebook.147334.0.html

Look at the scores of the i3s in respect of Carrizo in both version of the bench, they are behind in the former and ahead in the latter, thing is that you wont see such scam with Povray successive versions..

If the slide below is genuine there will be one but only in 12 months.

Please, stop cluttering this topic with argumentation no one follows and which strays away from more original and useful talks: Carrizo implemented in actual products (which we can buy).

I really have the idea that you're talking about AMD as a horse everyone sees dead (or injured) but you can't accept it, only defending it and trying to drag competitors down, you expect it to become alive and kicking. You're making a joke of yourself.

I answered to other posters and all was related to Carrizo one way or another, contrary to your post wich is just an ad hominem..

If those exchange dont suit you press the ignore button...

NBC made a test of a Toshiba with a Carrizo-L, not exactly the same APU as Carrizo but the photos are interesting as they show a typical Carrizo MB, we can see that there s a dGPU that can be mounted on the heatsink trajectory..

Build quality is quite good compared to the BDW HP that was displayed by NBC as typical of HP low cost production.

The Carrizo-L Toshiba :

The BDW HP Pavilion :

I hate the empty spaces in such notebooks, especially the HP. For goodness sake, fill them with something useful! Like extra connectors (M.2, mini PCI-E), space for batteries, or an extra 2.5" SATA slot. Where's the time OEMs innovated to pack as much stuff in a notebook chassis as possible?! Production costs are all that matters these days, and no way to make them do better..

Its more than likely that is sharing the MB design with a Carrizo model.

Also both your links are for AMD notebooks.

Carrizo and Carrizo-L use the same MBs anyway, so all Carrizo-Ls will have MBs that are not entirely populated by components.

Yes, they illustrated the Carrizo article with a HP laptop pic from an other review as they didnt want to risk scratching this one, the reference is mentioned below the pic and in its link.

That's true. I wonder if that means a 35w tdp for the Apu.

In the meanwhile the 15" from hp is down to 399€ in Italy, but still the only carrizo laptop i could find

A pretty sweet deal for 400 euros. I mean the screen is still meh but at that price ()

This is what I'm eyeballing with the 50 euros cashback and perhaps the student program it would be around 620-650 euros.

Still the Intel + Nvidia combo offers more performance for less money. Though obviously less efficient.

That lenovo looks impressive but its so massive. Here's to hoping for full 35w.
If it's called Y700 and is the Y70 successor it must have a 17" screen. Yet what I see in the pictures seems to be a 15.6" model (based on free space around keyboard). Thickness wise specs seem to indicate the 17" model (Y70 is 26mm), while weight is somewhat closer to the 15.6" model.

My guess is someone really mixed up the specs. Wait for better data.

It will undoubtly use the max TDP rating wich is 35W with boost up to 42W, that will provide a decent gaming solution that weight one kg less than the Y70 predecessor
Judging by one of the pictures it also features a Radeon R9 M380.

I just want a F.....ing 14" A10-8800P 35W with DDR-4, SSD and no dGPU. But i want it yesterday, not in three months from now.

I don't understand why there is this obsession with high TDP Carrizos. Just get something with the i7-5750 or better. It'll destroy the 35W FX-8800P in every way.

When AMD said the Carrizo performed best at 15W, they actually meant that 15W is where it is somewhat competitive. At 35W and above, it doesn't make sense not to go intel.

At 35W, and 42W, Carrizo GPU is better than Iris Pro..

This latter score 10% higher at 47W than a Carrizo GPU at 35W, and we all know what 47W means for Intel, Lenovo are not stupid, they took the solution that would provide the best perf/Watt at those TDPs.

It sounds like the PPT (AC) based boost. This could lead to higher fan noise while playing games.

When set at 35W the SoC cant get over 42W, wich is the absolute limit of the commercial chips, so that wont have a big influence unless the cooling device is barely enough for 35W.
