I bought a wireless router+modem back in 2011 that only supported Ethernet at 10BaseT speeds. Those old, slow chipsets still lurk in the darkest corner of the IT industry, just waiting to be bought up.

Back to the matter at hand, I just glanced though the latest arrivals at Amazon UK's laptop section, and as yet there's only two laptops that use Carrizo, both Toshiba models. With delivery times estimated at 1-2 months.

Alright... W10 has been out for a week... AMD has new drivers... where are the motherbleepin' Carrizo reviews?!?

/patience

I don't know why there are a lack of reviews -- but you can buy them everywhere at this point:

The only obvious knock IMO is that many of these machines are still sporting hard drives, not solid states.

Well, that and the fact that they all use 768P screens, meaning that their GPU performance will largely go to waste since Broadwell would also offer acceptable gaming performance at that resolution (to say nothing of how Skylake might perform).

At 15W TDP even Carizzo will have a hard time at 768P, not to mention Broadwell/Skylake GT2 will be even worse.

You havent seen the Carizzo at 15W TDP yet and you already know that Skylake GT2 will be faster ??

You haven't seen the Skylake at 15W TDP yet and you already know that Carrizo will be faster??

Does it sound familiar to you? I did imitate your posting style, funny that you didn't like it.

Not to mention you missed the 15-20W Carrizo review from Notebookcheck where Carrizo wasn't much faster than Broadwell.

Carrizo doesn't need to be faster than Skylake. It needs to be faster - significantly faster - at its target TDP point than mobile Kaveri, and it is. That it ever beats Broadwell in CPU tasks is a beautiful thing (less-surprising when it wins in integrated graphics performance, i5-5200U is not an iGPU powerhouse). All of the hyperbole and snarking aside, did any of you expect AMD to beat Intel in CPU performance within any power envelope? I didn't. Putting out something that can beat Atom, Haswell, and Broadwell in the 15-25W range is something that is an amazing accomplishment for AMD, especially given the process discrepancies.

And it needs to find its way into better laptop configurations than many of the ones we're seeing now. It could beat Skylake and still be a stinker if the OEMs relegate it to the b team. Still a step up from the mostly non-existent mobile Kaveri, but . . .

Also, I move we close this thread and go to the Carrizo general thread (is there one yet) since it is now in products and selling in at least a few cases.

SKL shouldnt be brought in the debate since there s no numbers published by Intel that are accurate, you are using a ghost as comparison with an actual product.

Atenra is 100% right as he s talking real numbers while all you re doing is to deliberatly post falsehood...

Damit bestätigt sich unsere Vermutung, dass HP die TDP des A10-8700P im Pavilion 17 auf 15 Watt begrenzt hat.
He says that his measurements confirm his assumptions that HP has limited the A10-8700P TDP at 15W in the Pavillion 17, i read nowhere any mention of the trollish 20W you posted out of desperation.

He isn't talking about real numbers. He did claim SKL will be slower out of thin air. With you definition he can't be bright. Double standard from you.

For the time Atenra is assuming that it will perform in the same ballpark as BDW, why should it be otherwise since it s basicaly the same process.??.

That said only reliable idling power numbers for BDW plateform were published by AMD, you should write to Intel and ask them to publish some infos about their products, frequency/power curves would be welcomed among others, you know, real numbers...

It's like these products dont actually exist at all. There are no benchmarks. No actual measurements of battery life. No gaming benchmarks. WTF.

No, you haven't said.

I asked you a question - if you have seen the performance of both, and you replied with a question.

That implies you haven't.

where the hell are the reviews?
If only they would post some reviews so those that consider it an option could make a decision. Vicious circle much actually.

I find it funny how NBC talks about the A10-8700p as if they have actually reviewed it while they have actually reviewed a notebook that has it with poor power settings and poor choices in terms of dgpu and ram.
