Go to CCC, enable ATI Overdrive (check the box), hit 'Apply', then have the computer idle so you can report what both speed readings say (core and memory clocks).

Oh, you're talking about the memclock.

Yeah, mine stay at the 1340 mhz at idle. Drops to 900 when playing video.

I don't have heat issues, though. Currently idling at 38C, but I have decent case cooling and also Vapor-X.

Do you guys use dual screen?

My brother's 5770 idles at 157/300 with 10.8s, granted he doesn't OC.

My 5770 behaves this same way even with an O/C, 157/300 at desktop.

My 4830 kept high clocks when running dual screens it was noisy.

If ATI Overdrive isn't enabled (you need to in order to OC), then the numbers stay low. As I've said, the glitch only occurs if you check that box and apply the change.

Overdrive is enabled, I was messing with the fan profiles the other day.

Downloading now. Always keep my drivers up to date, but my 4870 is getting too old to get much from driver updates aside from a few bug fixes in games I don't play or own.

Hope to pick up a shiny Radeon 6800 series part in October/November. *Crosses fingers*

Its interesting that they have a crossfire profile for an unreleased game in F1 2010, I never payed much attention to this but has this happened before?

Does it fix the EDID/black screen on resume bug?
Does it fix the AHCI performance bug?
Does it add TRIM to the AMD AHCI drivers?
Can ATI GPU's now handle the 29/59 encoding error without stuttering?

Am I missing any obvious bugs/errors that have NOT been addressed in the last 2+ years?

1. Works fine
2. Performance is fine with AMD AHCI. Same HDD performs the same with both Intel & AMD.
3. Don't know
4. Don't know

Too bad this didn't fix the secondary display corruption bug (occurs when playing a video on the primary display and Overdrive is used)

1. Nope, does not work fine - big issue on HDMI connected displays. Fixable with some small and very primitive programs, e.g. HDMIon (sp?), but embarrassing that AMD can't fix it when every third rate programmer can do it.
2. AMD AHCI performance is 10-30% less than the generic MS AHCI drivers.
3. TRIM is still missing.
4. Big, nasty bug if you are using a HTPC.

All known issues for at least 2 years.

1. My PC has no problem resuming from sleep w/HDMI connection.
2. I've heard this, but have been unable to measure it either with HDtune or just general system usage since SB710/750/890. SB600 was horrible.

Edit: a quick look at TechReport's 890FX review shows good performance with AHCI.

You asked questions, I responded with my own experiences. If you already have your own "answers", why did you ask?

1. Then you can fix it for the 10,000 people posting about this all over the internet? If you are part of the 1% that are not affected, then count yourself lucky and shut up. Don't go sprouting BS that there is no problem!
2. There is even a thread about it on AT. 10-35% performance hit from using AMD AHCI drivers. Maybe your system is so slow that you don't even notice the perfomance hit? Maybe something else is too slow?

My questions were whether the bugs got fixed. They have not.

=> don't buy ATI/AMD GPUs and chipsets.

Accosting your fellow forum members is unacceptable.

Somebody took cranky pills this morning, I guess.

=> buy ATI/AMD GPUs and chipsets. Buy Intel chipsets and Nvidia GPUs. For Pete's sake, people, buy, BUY, BUY!!!

1.) I've had more issue with nVidia cards in this department than ATI
2.) Show me
3.) WTF is TRIM and who needs it? isn't that for SSDs??
4.) Not for everyone

=> don't listen to coolVariable on GPUs and chipsets.

Troll.

1. Not saying you should buy nvidia either.
2. Search function on this board not working for you? Google too difficult?
3. TRIM is part of the AHCI standard.
4. EVERYONE who gets 29/59 encoded streams.

No problems to report. Everything's smooth and great. Updated via Steam btw. Been running Borderlands for a few hours (mem leak is fixed it seems). ME2 runs great too (with SSAA x4). Didn't try other games yet.

My HDTV is connected through HDMI natively and my LCD through DVI. I never shut down my PC, always put it to sleep and not once did this thing happen to me on my HD5850. Though I do recall having issues when I had a HD4350 and was waking the PC from sleep (screens didn't pop back up and I had to hard reset). So i guess they fixed this one (and at least a few months ago).

You do sound like a troll with quote like this
don't buy ATI/AMD GPUs and chipsets.

WTF are you trying to tell people what or not to buy?..we all know Nvidia drivers are perfect right and all Nvidia users have zero issues,FYI I have both AMD/Nvidia hardware and consider them about equal which means no major issues from either in my experience.

Btw 10.9s working fine for me as usual.

I do feel Nvidia and AMD need their own forums to stop a lot of trolling and pointless posts.

Did nvidia ever fix the data corruption problems with their nforce4/5 SATA drivers? Did ActiveArmor ever work? Did ATI ever put out drivers that resulted in GPU's over heating

The answer would be No. Point being that claims about one companies driver teams being more/less competent are ridiculous.

I don't think he's necessarily pro-Nvidia. He's enraged at AMD for what he considers are shortcomings in their product. Just because Nvidia screwed up doesn't make it right for AMD to do so.

I've encountered the AHCI issue he's pointed out, but mainly in SB600. SB750 had definite improvements in performance, and in my experience SB710 and SB8x0 seems to have fixed the AHCI hit. TechReport confirms this in their 890fx chipset review.

USB 2.0 performance stunk in SB600 and SB750. The USB in my SB710 board is fine, a match for my Intel PC. So I think there are some issues with AMD stuff that aren't going to be fixed with drivers. The fact that there are usually issues of some sort - some minor, some major - in the majority of hardware doesn't mean we should be OK with that.
