just did the science. summary: fail.

so it used to be, if you let your computer sleep, it would fail to wake up. and not cycle up on reset. only a power down would do it. and on power up, windows would try to kill itself, which the only solution to was power down again, cancel the self destruct and resume normal operation.

with 12.6 beta, resume will not resume. a hard power off and restart is required. but, on restart, it will then resume as though you were asleep.

also, they don't respect your settings. had the left monitor less bright than the center monitor? sucks to be you. reset that. 2012 and we still can't get that right.

so, scale of 1-10, 1 is fail, 10 is fixed, this is a 2.

My memory clock will no longer go down to low after I overclock now, making temps high all the time. They used to just go up during gaming.

Anybody? Know? I might have to go back to 12.2 I think 12.4 or 12.3 destroyed Skyrim for me.

These drivers were horribly unstable for me. Either that or my card is dying. I was getting random driver crashes, black screens, and hangs all in 2D Windows doing nothing but browsing in Firefox.

To fix the sleep issue, go into Asus GPU Tweak, toggle it to 2D mode, and set the 2D voltage to 0900.

Run it on the 12.4 drivers; they're way more stable.

I am getting taskbar flickering/jittering. In games, desktop, online, you name it. Flickers ALL the time, no matter what. Went back to 12.4

Interesting. For me, 12.6 beta is far more stable for me than 12.4 (with 12.4 I had the problem with my entire computer crashing after sleeping the monitor). With 12.6, I can come back to my computer after a few hours and wake up the monitor just fine.

I hope I haven't spoken too soon... but I've been 100% stable with 12.6. Congrats on finding a solution anyway though.

It could be that I ran Driver Sweeper and did a clean install of the 12.4s. With nVidia you can do a clean install right through the drivers. I wish AMD had this feature.

I see. Over the last couple of weeks, I uninstalled and re-installed 12.4 multiple times, with and without Driver Sweeper, to see if I could resolve my crashes. There was actually a period of about ~3 days that I went without any crashes (on a thorough Driver Sweeper installation), not sure if Driver Sweeper really had anything to do with it though. After yet another re-installation of 12.4 the crashes started again. So there were some mixed results.

I just remembered, 12.4 also occasionally gave me the "AMD display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" message too. It occurred after waking up the monitor (on the few occasions when it would wake up at all, I mean). I could continue to use the desktop and play games with no issues though.

12.6 hasn't given me any of those errors at all. So I'm pretty happy right now. It's been a stressful couple of weeks because of those problems. I've only been building/maintaining computers for a few years - and I've always upgraded immediately to the newest video drivers - but 12.4 is the first time I've ever actually had issues with a driver before.

The release cycle change came at a good time. Ever since Cat 12.3 I've also had the driver hang in addition to 0x116 BSOD crashes every other day...even when my computer wasn't doing anything beyond 2D. After clean-sweeping the driver twice (something I never had to do before), I'd still get errors. Really freakin' weird.

12.6 seems to be working well so far.

Meh. I'm still rocking the 11.12's. Every thing else has caused me issues.
