Take IDC for example, why is he not posting here anymore? Thats right - he was run off by the AMD gang squad. Effen Idgits.

Fixed it for you.
Curiously the drama queens don't complain when people criticize Intel for their less than stellar mobile chips, process delays, iGPUs, etc.

It seems that you weren't here to see the love he got from the AMD crowd when he criticized AMD for not releasing the thermal datasheets for AMD processors, or when he disclosed that for his measurements AMD was breaching their announced TDP specs as far as the FX 8350 were concerned. The resident AMD reseller of this forum even contradicted AMD's own documentation in order to go against him, probably thinking that people here are as smart and informed as his customers.

The whole family of Broadwell chips don't even use edram. You should isolate it to Broadwell for desktop.
This is like saying I need to post the definition of wet when discussing water. Of course we're talking about desktop Broadwell.
No DDR4 support is a disadvantage nowadays for me. For a new investment it is a bad choice.
DDR4 offers nothing but lower power consumption which is relevant to servers and not on the desktop. It's only marginally relevant in terms of APUs.
At launch Broadwell with edram was very expensive the first months with poor availability.
Yes? Even if that was due to yields, which hasn't been proven, those yields should be better now. So where are the Broadwell chips for MSRP?
While the edram helps in some games to compensate for the low clock, it doesn't help in some others.
I've looked at several reviews and remember one, at most, where Skylake led Broadwell, or maybe it was the 4970K. I remember quite a few where Broadwell led. Broadwell also got top marks in a latency test. The bottom line is that a 65W part at 500 MHz less clock that didn't require a new board and RAM and which didn't represent the most tremendous improvement in a decade should not be neck and neck.

You don't understand my point. I can buy 8 or better 16 GB of DDR4-3000+ and I'm fine for the next couple of years and don't have to buy another RAM for a future CPU upgrade the next couple of years.

And quite a few where Skylake is superior to Broadwell.

This is not true. 8-series boards can't use Broadwell. Only 9-series. Saying things like didn't require a new board is just wrong.

Objective opinions man, objective opinions. If I wanted to anthropologie-ze some hooligan group sociology construct I would join football-fan-club, but alas, that level neanderthal interspecies behavior is just not on my plate of interests - however when it keeps getting smacked in my face by ignits while im trying to catch a good debate .. it gets on my nerves.

That still doesn't explain how creating a new AMD subforum would prohibit people from making those comments.

Advocating to delete comments that aren't "objective opinions" is a separate issue from creating a new subforum.

Um, IDC got run off by people jumping down his throat over all kinds of things: Intel's 14nm yield problem, something to do with Apple's A9, and some other crap. I don't remember the AMD fans being much of a thorn in his side, at least not right before he left.

I'll reiterate, if you don't like certain posters showing up in every thread that even looks slightly pro-AMD and poo-pooing the whole thing, just put em on ignore.

Considering that AMD's last relevant CPU was 9 years ago (pre-Conroe), that isn't too surprising.

Actually, I'm surprised that the Zone has gone downhill. There's an active AMD subforum on OCN, and we have AMD chatter here, albeit much less. You can still own the hardware and talk with other AMD fans about how to best make use of it regardless of how "relevant" is said hardware.

The Zone could have been all about promoting HSA by using the limited toolset (there were at least a few folks there with the talent to do it) or any number of things, but instead it just ran dry.

Which is odd, considering how often AMD continues to trot out "Zen is on track for sure!" news releases. For our purposes, they may as well just be puff pieces, but at least AMD's marketing department - such as it is - seems to understand that more than a few people are skeptical of AMD's ability to deliver on future products.

No, he was a site administrator here, but he did not have enough time to do his duties, so he resigned.

Nothing to do with AND or Intel fanboys. You are close to an infraction.

The problem is that AMD PR is run by Fanboys not professional. That is why you see some miss fire words like overclockers dream, 8 core are 40% faster then sandy bridge, and world fastest card.
Do you mean this one?

SB would be i7-2xxx.

You see some users in this forum are saying that Zen will beat every intel product in terms of performance which is totally not true.
Links? I don't have the time to read each page of the interesting threads, but did someone really say that? Why do you bother with them?

He did have some new regs going after him and attacking his credibility as an industry insider. It was in some thread where there was a discussion about TSMC's 16nm FF+ vs Samsung's 14lpe/lpp or something like that, related to the A9. Had to do with known/projected percentages of how many A9s were coming from Samsung vs. TSMC.

It was a bit over-the-top. The guy was overcompensating for a lot of the good will that IDC has built up with the regulars around here, claiming there was a cult of Idontcare or what have you. Surely that made him uncomfortable.

And really, I think that was the worst of it, which can't be laid at the feet of Intel zealots or AMD fanbois or anyone of the sort. New regs will be new regs.

He might actually have been referring to me, where I took some of The Stilt's data from his Carrizo test platform @ 3.4 GHz and extrapolated what Zen's performance could be like in Cinebench R10, assuming AMD's claims could be taking at face value and could be applied to total throughput.

Let him point that out. I think, I commented on that already. You talked about a specific software, while desprado let it sound like a general claim.

I know you're a mod and im not supposed to disagree with you however not having time for mod duties is different from stop posting at all. I would think.
I am sure if one were to traverse some posting history on the subject, one could form ones own opinion on the subject.
While speaking of infractions, I would like to convey your attention to some of the posts posted towards fjodor as of late. They might be of interest. Just my opinion ofc.

I dont know why IDC is not posting. However, I seriously doubt that if he had time/was still interested in these forums that he would let some obviously biased comments by a new reg deter him from posting.

Hence the "don't have to buy new RAM" point about Broadwell that I made, particularly since getting a lot of DDR3L has been a cheaper proposition for some time.
And quite a few where Skylake is superior to Broadwell.
Which? And which of these are at the same clockspeed and power draw?

You're misreading my posts. I don't think we're going to get anywhere. Obviously, people with 9 series boards wouldn't have to buy a new board.

All this nit-picking doesn't change the points I made. It was a better value proposition for people to have Broadwell on the desktop instead of EDRAM-free Skylake. This is the same argument made by the author at ArsTechnica. Skylake should have been delayed until it could really outperform Broadwell.

Literally the last post from him. Call it what you want, i call it "got fed up" with the bs(banana splits) and left it behind. Incentive to stay : none. Trolls winning 1:0. Whatever.

Hmm another AMD thread train-wrecked by the usual suspects, how surprising.

I am excited about Zen. I am not expecting much, but I am hoping AMD really surprises me with this chip.

Since you are in to socket 2011-V3, If you are expecting ZEN to go head to head with Intel's HEDT 130-150W platform you will be disappointed.

From what i have gathered so far, i believe they are aiming at the Entry to High end Mainstream ($300-400) market, that is 99% of the desktop market share.
Mobile is different and that is where ZEN could be even more competitive with high-end APUs.

Nevertheless if they can challenge entry level Intel HEDT and trade blows with Intel 4C/8T in both performance and efficiency it's a win for them.

As for the rest of the thread: I just don't understand the Intel squad intentions really, they jump into every AMD thread with negativity to the roof.

Definitely, i strongly believe they will be very competitive against Intels mainstream skus (Kabylake socket 1151) and perhaps very price and perf/watt competitive against entry Broadwell-E HEDT SKUs.

I still hope they will offer higher core count at the same or better price as Core i7 Socket 1151 models. They could do that since Construction Core ZEN will be iGPU-less and so they could actually increase core count without significantly compromise on the die size, unless they use huge L2 and L3 caches that will increase die size more than what CPU cores will.
